Hi Pat and all my OFF friends,

Haven't had much time lately to check in on all of you but want you to know all of you have been in my thoughts and prayers.

We made it through Hurricane Irene pretty much unscathed. Only had some branches down in our yard and a tarp shed torn up. Only thing in the shed were our grandsons' Tonka trucks. They never moved.

Had words with DH on Tuesday when we were cleaning up the yard. He opened the tool shed/pump house and took out a couple rakes and an axe. I spotted a generator on a bench in there. I asked him if the thing worked. He said it did but it was to small to run the whole house. I asked if it would have run the coffee maker and/or the George Foreman. Yep! It would! So if my DH had hooked up the generator, he would have had coffee and wouldn't have been such a grump all during the storm.

We have been dealing with the aftermath of the storm on the island. Emerald Isle to Atlantic Beach took a beating. Fortunately, we are dealing with wet carpet, leaking windows, and missing shingles. We didn't lose any structures this time. Some I WISH had been blown down...

Post-op journey has been interesting. Testing foods to see what is tolerable. It has been hard to get everything in each day, but I am focusing on proteins and fluids. The weight is coming off slowly, but my clothes are sagging. Actually wore a size 16 capri that a friend from work gave me last week. I strutted around the office like I was somebody! My raincoat wraps around me a couple times. Some great NSV's and I am enjoying the compliments.

Much love to you all. Hope to "see" you all again tomorrow.
Hugs!

Post Script:  Okay, first of all, my nose is running like crazy today.  All the smoke and haze has finally gotten to me.  There are some very noxious substances in the air around here today.

But I'm just stalling by telling you all that.  They say that confession is good for the soul, so here goes:  I've been eating Slim-A-Bears for the past 3 or 4 nights.  (Slim-A-Bears are sugar free ice cream bars.)  I thought it would be okay since they are sugar free.  But they have that lovely chocolate coating on them.  Then I got the great idea of adding just a few semi-sweet chocolate chips to them, just to "up" the chocolate taste a bit.  Then last night I caught myself just eating chocolate chips right out of the bag!  Damn, damn, damn.  I swore I would not let chocolate back into my life after surgery!

I'm paying for it today.  I've had very uncomfortable "loose motions" (as they say in the Middle East where DH works) all day long.  When will I ever learn?  How can I be this old and this intelligent (I really am a moderately intelligent person, you know) and still be so stupid!?

I just threw all the chocolate chips down the garbage disposal.

So that's all I have to say about that.  Part of the problem of living on your own is there's no one around to watch what you eat.  You have to watch your own self.  I'm not too good at that.

On the plus side, I went to Curves again today.  That's 3 workouts this week.  Got my travelling pass, so I can work out down at the lake next week.

Gotta go watch the news now and see the latest on all the fires.  I'm gonna have to drive way out of my way tomorrow to avoid the huge fire in Bastrop.  Wish me luck travelling, sistas!

Vickie, good for you throwing those nasty chocolate chips down the garbage disposal.
I don't have a garbage disposal but I'm known to run water over my food and throw it in the trash.

Vickie, as a lot of us have said, they fixed your stomach, not your head. We have always figured out a way around a lot of things to eat what we want ... don't I know it ... and you know it, too.

My big bugaboo is ice cream ... love it, but can't have it in the house, because I can't eat just a half cup ... I eat a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's, then I get sick (not throw up sick, but really bad cramps and then those loose motions you referred to ... I like to call them explosive bowel movements). Even the SF stuff does it.

So if I want ice cream, I buy the little dixie cups and have just one. Or, I go out and get a cup at the yogurt place. It costs more, but it's not a temptation.

Live and learn.

Good evening Pat and OFF family...bringing up the rear again! Pat, enjoy your trip!

Well gang, I got up early and went for a 4 mile walk. Thought I'd get rained on but it held off for my walking adventure. I was going to ride my bike after my walk but the wind kicked up so did some leg exercises in my hot tub....along with some relaxation.

I'm not a day time TV watcher so exercise comes easily for me now working 3-11's. All though I must admit years ago I watched The Young and the Restless and low and behold I caught right back up! LOL

Hugs and prayers for all in need. I'll go back and catch up on the daily reading here later. Debbie

 Greetings Pat and OFF,
Sorry I am late in posting.  My web browser would not work, so my son fixed my computer remotely.  He is in Pittsburgh and I am outside of Philly, six hours away.  He has a computer repair business.
I went to my AA meeting today.  Then I did some grocery shopping.  In the afternoon, I took Utley for a walk to the firehouse down the street, where they spoil him with dog treats, and he drags me there every walk.  Then, we went to the river and saw the flooding.  It is pretty nasty, and it is supposed to get worse.

When I was home, I put stuff away and did some unpacking.  It is going slow, but each day, I end up putting at least three boxes out for trash.  With all the rain we have had, I have a lot of soggy boxes at the curb tonight.  I hope to be completed all of my unpacking and putting away by the middle of October.  I figure it took me about a month to pack it all, so it could take that long to unpack.

Nothing else exciting going on, except my Phillies swept the Braves this week.

Hugs,
Trish

Good evening Pat and everyone....

My Fribromyalgia is flaring up something awful. The pain is horrible and I am so fatigued I can hardly take care of Grace. It hit me last night and it is even worse today. I am checking in here and going to bed shortly.

Prayers for many in need.

Love and hugs to all....connie d
