Tuesday's news day! Whatcha all doing today?
Today I am sad. I have my two barn kitties "caught" in the laundry room. I have to take them to the animal shelter today. I don't want to do it, but I haven't been able to find anyone who can take them. And I don't have anyone who will come out here and feed them. I'm leaving for Hilltop on Friday and I'll be gone for two weeks. In October, when DH gets home, we'll be gone for 3 weeks. This is a problem that is not going to go away.
Please pray the the shelter will be able to place these kitties. They are good cats, good mousers, but they are very shy around people.
I do have a problem though. I thought I had a carrier up in the attic, but now I remember I lent it to my daughter. It's in San Antonio. I'm not sure how I'm going to transport the kitties to the shelter without one. Maybe a box?
So, yesterday it was very hazy and smoky outside all day. These wildfires are everywhere! This one was about 30 miles from me in another part of the county. There are so many fires everywhere, but there was an absolutely HUGE one near our lakehouse in Canyon Lake. Over 1,000 homes burned in Bastrop yesterday. I go right through Bastrop on my way to Hilltop. It's a scary time to live in the country in Texas.
I slept with the windows open last night for 2 reasons: 1) it was finally cool enough to turn off the AC, and 2) I wanted to be able to smell smoke if a fire started around here! As it was, I was awakened early this morning by the sound of sirens screaming as a fleet of firetrucks raced up the major highway near my house. They were headed north of here.
Please pray for Texas and all of our brave volunteer firemen! We need rain and we need help with all these fires!
I'm supposed to go into Curves at 10 a.m. this morning, but I think I'm going to call them and push my appt. back an hour or so. By the time I get the cats to the shelter, etc., it will be past 10 a.m. I'm tempted to cancel it all together, but I know I need to exercise.
Yesterday was a sewing day for me. I got that little poufy valance for the bath finished easily. Then I started on the Winnie-the-Pooh curtains. When I bought this material last year, I had planned on making the nursery/playroom here at this house. Now I'm making it at Hilltop, and the windows are different sizes there. I had to get a little creative with my fabric to make it work! Spent a lot of time measuring and planning, so in the end, I only got one panel finished yesterday afternoon. But the other three should go more quickly today, now that I have worked it all out.
Oh, it's already 9 o'clock! Where does my morning go? I'd better run jump in the shower.
Love you all!
(((Vickie))) I am so sorry that you hace to do this but I guess it better than letting them starve to death...hope and pray the someone will come and adopt them for barn cats...
I have seen those fires in Texas and when I saw your post on FB last night I was wondering if any were close to our other homes. Please be careful driving thru to get to your home!!! IF they even let you go there!!!!
Will keep your firefighters in my prayers as well....

I got up way too early today, woken up by a phone call from my cleaning fairy ... unfortunately, I can't afford her this week. I kind of told her this when she called me on Friday, but I guess the message didn't sink in. Well, she called this morning and I was not awake, so I said, "Ok." When she got here, I told all I had was $18 (which isn't enough). I felt sorry for her, I know she depends on my money, just as I depend on her services. Anyway, after she left, I thought, "I should have at least given her some money for gas." Then she called back and asked if she took out my trash, if I would give her money for gas. So she came back, took out my trash and I gave $4.
So I'm up early and didn't sleep well, too. Got up about 5:30 a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep, so I read for awhile. It's a gorgeous day today ... only 71 degrees so I have the sliding screen door open and Juliette is batting at bugs through the screen.
Your little kitty sounds sweet, Nancy. Hope she figures it out.
My labor day was working ... the one new sports writer was so polite, he was calling me Miss Eileen and Ma'am ... I wasn't sure who he was talking to. The guy who sits next to me told him he didn't need to be that nice to me because I was a Yankee. I told him (Mark, the guy next to me), I thought he liked me. It was all in fun.
Well, I work again tonight, but then I get my three-day weekend ... no money, well, a little so I might go to a movie (we have a cheap theater for $2.75). Anyway, have a good day.
Thank you, everyone!
Annette..baby meat sounds like a good choice to try. I have my biopsy at noon Wed. so I will get some baby meat on the way home. Ruby is half the size of her siblings..they crunch and she sucks...lol.
Also need to stop at M&Ms frozen foods for a few trays of "hors d'oeuvres" for the BPW Garden Party Thursday. I don't feel like baking tonight. *s*
