Hello, everyone!    I apologize firstly, for starting yet again another day…just that I am sitting here and checked in …trying to get back into communicating more.

Well, I survived my allergy tests…that’s the GOOD news....the bad news is that I am STILL VERY allergic to penicillin.   I had hoped that, after sixty years, I might have outgrown it…apparently not!   My arm looks like I have leprosy.

I hope this goes away by Saturday evening…..we have to attend JB’s oldest sister’s birthday party and my in-laws are not the most forward-thinking bunch *s*.  Oh well, I may have half of the living room to myself…lol. On the way home, I stopped and bought enough groceries to last the week....some nice fresh thick & lean pork chops for the BBQ, two (yes, two....one for JB and myself, one for Derek…lol)  rotissierie chickens, ingredients to make Mom’s special recipe for potato salad ( the boys were asking for it), some fresh lean ground beef for meatballs & chilli and some fresh crusty buns and some salad stuff.   I got home, deboned the two chickens and went upstairs to have a short “lie-down” as the doctor told me that I must - I wasn’t going to argue with that!.. *LOL* and I fell asleep and woke up three hours later! I sat outside on the porch drinking green tea and was covered with numerous furry bodies: Ruby, Fred, George, Cookie, Oreo, Ferdinand, KC, Alice, Mini-Fred, Bob, Herman, Flower, Joy and Anastasia. Imagine how it sounds…..all of them were PURRING!   The rest ignored me....instead, they focused on the cat kibble that JB was handing out…the nerve!

We can smell the rain in the air and it was heavy with humidity but no rain though it was predicted all day.  Tonight, I am busy responding to the RSVPs to our BPW Garden Party, corresponding with the Russian Doctor, trying to make plans to entertain her and her entourage, and I’m doing banking for us and for Mom’s stuff still.   Still waiting on the lawyer’s letters and affidavits for Mom’s will.   It seems as if it will never be over

.  This weekend I will have my letter of complaint ready about the director of the cemetery to send to the city, provincial & federal departments.  No one should have to be treated so badly again by this person. It is an abuse of power and I will see that the authorities hear how he is abusing people.    I guess my twenty years in advocacy through Business & Professional Women’s Club has taught m a lot about standing up for what is right and I just cannot keep my mouth shut anymore! That guy P*** off the wrong person this time. Friday, the beginning of our long weekend…I will be meeting some ladies in the afternoon for tea in Niagara Falls to discuss how to focus on POSITIVE thinking despite the challenges we are all enduring right now.   Then back to the drawing board to send in last-minute writing to my website for Tuesday’s launch. Please, everyone, be safe and careful….this busy weekend means that we must be especially very aware in traffic. Many blessings,Nancy B

Morning all, sober 306 days and so proud of me.
Spent last 2 nights sleeping in recliner. My physical therapist, Norm and gorgeous, saw me Wednesday for BPPV,or my spinning dizzy head. He evaluated me and gave me an adjustment. He told me to wait 2 days and hopefully the little nugget of bone will find it's way back to the right place in my right ear. Seems this is a condition that effects many women over 50. Hopefully the nugget will go where it belongs, but I have follow up appointments and home exercises to help.
Hubby has been to the chiropracter....we go each day. Got approval from VA for local doctor and had x-rays and initial evaluation done. Already see some improvement for hubby. Nice young doctor and his staff is large and all professional. Doctor showed us on the x-rays the damage areas all up and down his spine. Next week we have doctor appointments all week. Crazy but good.
We are ready to go, so I will say goodbye for now. Hoping all are well and happy.
Hugs, Monica

Good mornin' ya'll.
Nancy you are the busiest person I have ever heard off. I hope you get your Momma's estate all taken care of. Seems to me that people in the business of helping very vulnerable people would be a little more caring!
Early yesterday morning was spent scanning genealogy stuff from my Aunt. Then the tree clean up guys came. He had said Thursday or Friday. Our son was hoping for Friday because yesterday he was stuck at the beach with no vehicle. Soooo, after they took care of our 2 downed trees, my DH and I went down to our son's and watched the tree removal down there. They were very good. A crew of 5 guys with a chipper and a bobcat. The only thing is they had to get behind the fence with the bobcat. That meant removing one panel and one post from the fence, not just the gate that was smushed by the tree. Then after they cleared out the downed tree and the 3 big tippy ones, the boss came over and pointed out some others that were leaning pretty bad. The tippy trees had basically been holding them up. He said he would take those down for more money, since his crew was already there. Called son, he said no, too expensive. The boss went to check on another crew in the area. Came back just before our crew finished and said, OK, he would take those trees for half his first offer. Called son back. He said he'd love to have them down (I had sent pictures), but just no more money. My DH said this is silly. Next storm those trees will be in the pool. So we offered to pay for those to come down. I know our son was relieved!. The thing is, our wind and hail has such a huge deductable, even if you put in a claim you have lots of out of pocket. Our son and his family are just like we were and many still are. He gets a little money ahead and everything goes south! Months ago he made reservations for this Labor Day weekend at the beach. Then: Irene comes, a truck breaks down, the dog either needs surgery or just let him pass peacefully. Can't get the money back for
the beach vaca, no one has any money to " buy " the space from them, so they went.
And since the tree crew had to take out more of the fence than expected, a quick chicken wire fix to keep the dogs in won't suffice. So we have the three dogs here til Tuesday. And if this one, old, darling dog passes away on my watch, I will be devastated!! I am giving him his meds and he is eating a little, but I am very concerned about him. Surgery and other vet bills would be thousands and would just extend his life only a short time. Everyone knows it is just a matter of time.
Oh, and my fill isn't working, I'm going back for another one on Tuesday. I stubbed my baby toe and I think it is broken! It is swollen, and very black and blue and hurts like the devil. But I know they don't do anything for broken baby toes. My dear sweet helpful DH offered to yank on it to see if the broken bone needed to be 'set'. No thanks, darlin'!
Well now, haven't I just been way long winded this morning!!! Sorry about that ladies. If it's too long, just skip parts. Oops, if you just read that, you probably read the entire thing by now!
Everyone have a fantabulous day!!

Good Morning Nancy and OFF,
You needn't apologize for being the first to post two days in a row.  You get so much done in a day, I am in awe.

I was blessed yesterday by some women from church.  Two friends came over and cleaned out my kitchen and packed it all up.  They also cleaned out my fridge, and scrubbed out the cabinets.  I got to play with the 6 month old son of one of them.  Talk about a double blessing.  When they finished the kitchen, the cleaned my bathroom.

Then, my son, who I thought would be away, texted me and asked about what time my crew is arriving on Saturday to move my furniture.  I said, "9:00ish"  He is thinking about coming down for a few hours.  He lives in New York.  I am outside of Philadelphia.  I was hesitant to ask him, once I learned he was in town after all, because he feels taken for granted by me, and I don't want him to feel that way.

Today has me packing up a few last minute things.  I also need to pitch two pieces of carpet.  One is my kitchen piece, I keep in front of the sink.  It is filthy, and I don't want it in my new kitchen.

Nothing else going on here.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Nancy,Anette, Monica and all to follow,

I just finished a pretty long post and it disappeared on me. Highlights: Went to the ER last night. They did an x-ray. The doctor never examined me. He just talked to me.  I think I need a C/T Scan to see if something is torn. The pain is still severe with a foam knee stabilizer on. Wish I had one of my good braces from home. The pain med he gave me is a laugh. I get 15cc of Vicodin 10mg/500mg every 4 to six hours. I was given 5cc of Vicodin 7.5mg/500mg. That's about one fourth of my usual dose. Do they think I'm an addict or something. I use it sparing for the day to day pain I have. Believe me I don't want to get addicted to anything.

My friend, Maryann, is going to try to get me into her ortho doc today.
Nancy,   You are amazing
Annette, Your stories are so much fun to read.
Monica, You are more than amazing.

Everyone have a lovely day,    Mag

Good Morning Nancy, OFFr Friends. . .

What a great picture I have of you with all your furry family on and surrounding you, this morning as I lay with Roxie doing our usual morning routine, whereby when I wake up she moves from where she usually sleeps at the bottom of my bed to come right up next to me, where I pet and massage her from head to hind and then I usually get up and cuddle her, rubbing her belly, well if you could hear her, you'd swear she was half cat, she purrs and it is just so much love from this 90something pound Rottie who has brought such absolute joy into my life, thank God and the spirit of Dillinger for giving me yet another 4-legged family member to love and be loved by in return. . .  after that we went for a nice long walk. . .

Nancy, I hope the things you have had to deal with surrounding your Mom's passing are soon behind you, a distant memory and that all the wonderful things you do in life continue to multiply and bring you the measure of joy that you put out there.

Well I have a chock full weekend, tomorrow I will get up, take Roxie for a long, hopefully, tiring walk, then drop her at the dog groomers for a bath, furminating and nail clipping, from there I will head up to Langhorne, first to meet with some of the other support group leaders over breakfast to discuss whatever needs to be prior to our meeting, then to the support group meeting for those who need WLS support, after that I have a birthday party to stop in at, then I need to get my hair cut, hoping to get back before my girl leaves, as for the past month I have needed a haircut and been unable to get there (lol), after that I will go home, pack a bag and drive to my son's shore house, which is a good 1.5 hour drive, I will spend the night with them, part of the day Sunday and then head home, where I will run some errands and do laundry, food prep and probably fall into bed exhausted.  Monday I will get up early, go to the gym, then get ready to attend a picnic that one of my sponsees invited me to, after that I will go home to enjoy what is left of my day off and probably be happy to go to work the next day, as working some days seems simpler than the rest of my life (lol). . .  Tony is away on his yearly 60something men get together and act like they are 30something's, they are at his friend's timeshare in Cabo, but the reward will come when he takes me for a new charm on my Pandora bracelet that he bought me a couple of weeks ago ;)

Anyway, wishing you all the very best weekend and for anyone facing life challenges, I wish you strength and peace to get through them.

Hugs, Laureen

Good morning everyone!

Nancy B, all I can say is I'll bet you NEEDED that 3-hour nap!  Goodness, woman, do you ever take a break?  Sorry about your arm and the reaction to the penicillin.  It will go away.

So, the good news this morning is that the scale is continuing to move down!  I don't know where these spurts of WL come from, but I'm happy to be in one now.  C'mon Onederland!

I'm not getting very much done around here this week.  I blame the computer.  By the time I finish reading and responding to OFF and FB and my emails, the day is half gone.

I'm trying to walk on my treadmill this week.  Have managed to do 30 to 40 minutes a day, but that's about all.  And I'm not walking fast either.  Yesterday I did a mile and a quarter.  My left hip aches when I walk, and as always, my right ankle is weak.  (Broke it 10 years ago.)  But, as the saying goes, a little bit is better than nada.

Speaking of joints, Mag, I sure hope you're doing better today.  I know you're not at home and you don't want to be a bother, but you've got to take care of yourself, too!  It's important to get an injury treated.  If you need a CT-scan, I hope the ortho doctor will help you get one today.

And Grammy, I know they don't "set" broken toes, but you can "splint" it yourself.  Get you some of that white medical tape and firmly wrap your little toe to the one next to it.  It will immobilize the little toe and you will get some relieft!  I know.  I've broken the same little toe twice.  Once while I was teaching and had to stand on it all day.  I also sacrificed a pair of shoes and cut a slit over the little toe area so that there was no pressure bearing down on that toe.

Monica, it's good to hear from you this morning.  Annette, if you have an affair with a man named Water Willy, I'm going to lose all respect for you!  LOL!  Trish, thinking about you and the big move.  So glad you got some good help yesterday.  And Laureen, you win the prize for Super Woman today!  You do so much each day, just like Nancy B.  Where do you all get the energy?

Hope Connie is having fun with her family and friends this weekend, although I know she will be thinking of her friend Chuck.  So sad to lose a friend.

Hope everyone else has a great Labor Day weekend!

Love you all!

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

I'm getting on here late today ... I need to get ready for work soon. I got up and did shopping today because it was payday, or as I call it, exchange day. The check was nice because it was full of overtime. So I was easily able to pay rent, cable/phone/Internet (otherwise known as Comcast), get my antidepressants Cymbalta .... the name was escaping for awhile ... my happy pills that cost me $50 ... and some groceries and still have $18 to my name ... woohoo! But I was in pain after that and had to take a vicodin when I got home. So I'm sitting here with ice packs on my back and knee and hopefully, will feel better by the time I have to work at 4.

Tonight is the first football Friday of the fall; we're getting sandwiches in from the boss; free food never hurts. I'm not doing sports tonight, so that's a good thing.

Anyway, got to get going soon. Have a good one. Mags, hope you feel better.
