It's My Five Year Surgiversary

Five years ago, today, I had my RNY surgery.  I would have posted earlier, but did not get my electricity restored until 3:00 p.m. today.

Five years ago, I made a commitment to live life as a RNY post-op patient.  It has been a bumpy road, but I am slowly getting back on track with the post-op dietary guidelines.

I have not reached goal weight yet, but am happy with the healthier version of me with less weight to carry around.

I am grateful for this surgery, and for the friends I have made through OH here at OFF, on the PA Forum, and the Christianity Forum.

Hugs,
Trish
Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Congrats Trish!
It's not easy to stay on track, but it certainly is a much easier way to live life than with an obese body to drag around!  Good for you for getting back on track.

Trish, Congratulations! I celebrated 6 yrs in FEB so I totally "get" your bumpy road comment. I had a great first 2 years and enjoy good health, BUT it's a daily commitment to stay on the right road isn't it? I am not at goal. I'm think in my sub conscious I am deathly afraid of goal. I've never been there. IF I get there I'll have to maintain it; never have been able to do that. Screwed up head isn't it? Anyway, way to go!

Congratulations on five years of a healthier life!!!  Many of us struggle post-op to maintain what we've lost -- still we are healthy, happy, and able to do things we couldn't do prior to WLS.

I too am grateful to have had the surgery even at my age, and thankful for the many friends I have gained on this forum.

Have a wonderful day -- so glad you have power back on!

Hugs,
Pat R.
