Saturday already..what's new with you???
Good Morning Nancy and OFF Family,
I am one of those bracing for Hurricane Irene. I live a couple of blocks from the Delaware River, and have never heard of it flooding to my block, though it does flood. My main concern is losing electricity. I have canned goods and I filled all the containers I could round up with water, in case that is an issue. I really don't want to lose all of the frozen foods I have in my freezer right now. I do have a flashlight and candles, if needed.
I already walked Utley down by the river, which is a good workout with the boot on. Came home, put a load of laundry in the washer, which is now in the dryer. After I showered, I ran to the local grocery store for a few last minute items. Tuna, eggs, canned beans, and lemon juice. I make my own homebrewed iced tea, so I go through a lot of Splenda and lemon juice.
Storm or no storm, I have more packing to do. I will try to finish my bedroom closet, at least the larger part of it. I am grateful this storm is not hitting next weekend, when I move. I am praying for a sunny, not humid day that day.
I hope everyone stays safe, especially our North Carolinians.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

Good morning Nancy and OFF:
We're down here at the lake with no weather channel, so I'm out of the loop on Irene, but I know it's pounding the coast. So glad to hear from Grammylew and know she's okay. So glad it missed our sistas in Florida, but hoping for the best for those still in Irene's path. I grew up in the Houston/Galveston area and went through many a hurricane as a child. I remember the ferocious winds!
This lake is so pitiful. We are on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, which is one of the largest lakes in the south. The lake is so far down that there are now dozens of islands where there were none before. We need rain so badly! Almost all of the boat ramps are closed now. Just concrete wedges hanging high above the water line! We were going to put our little boat in the water and run it, but now I don't think we're going to try. We'd have to drive 30 miles to closest open boat ramp. We'll see.
It's very hot here, of course, and there's a burn ban, so we really can't clean up the yard either, although it needs it! Lots of leaves and downed limbs in our yard. We usually rake it all into the ditch and burn it, but can't do that today. I really don't know what we'll do today. Stay inside and read our Nooks, I guess.
Happy Saturday everyone! Love you all!
