Good Morning Friends,

Went to bed early and woke up before 6 a.m. this morning, so I'm having my coffee and watching my DVRd Y&R episodes that I did not have time for this week, my 40 minutes of fluff television. . .

So much going on in so many lives, we all are at an age where loss is everywhere and no matter how old we are, losing people is a sad and difficult time.  I believe that the spirit lives within our hearts of those we love and that so long as we live, the best parts of them live within and we can, if we slow down, can actually feel their presence, especially in times of real need. . . I hope for those of you experiencing this sort of pain, that you can believe similarly. . .

For my day today, I will be spending time with my b/f and not sure what we will be doing, but whatever it is I will enjoy my day.

Now to leave you with what I hope will bring some laughter to your day!!!

MY LAST TRIP TO COSTCO   Yesterday I was at my local COSTCO buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had an elephant? So because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in
the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle's ass and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was Laughing so hard.

Costco won't let me shop there anymore. Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the World to think of crazy things to say. Forward this (especially) to all your retired friends...it will be their laugh for the day!

Good morning Laureen and everyone....

I still haven't slept and not in the least bit tired. I went grocery shopping at 4:30.....only one other customer in there. Kind of  creepy in there at that time.

I imagine I will need to sleep at some point today...or at least I will try.

Thank you all again for the caring posts. You people are the absolute best!!  I would be so lost without you!!

Laureen...the joke is cute....maybe I can laugh at it later.

Have a beautiful day. Prayers for so many in need. Special prayers for Morgan!

I will check in again later.....be warned!!

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Connie,

Just know I am thinking of you, now get some rest, you need it. . . I love shopping when I can zip through a store, but I also know what you mean when you say it is creepy in an empty store. . .  sort of like one of those Steven King novels. . .

Thanks for the warning ;)

Hugs, Laureen

Good morning Laureen and all.

Good one Laureen. I'm still laughing. Every time I buy a bag of dog food, I'll chuckle like an idiot.

There has been a big orange cat in the yard. He is scraggly and unkempt. As I was sweeping up the food my own cats spill on the floor, an idea struck. Scoop the food and put it out for the cat.

He came running to the food almost immediately. Poor thing was so hungry.

When I told Tom, he gave me that wide eyed look. No, I do not plan to bring him in the house. YES, I will continue to feed him.

It is good to read our positive comments each day. For people going through stress and loss, don't be afraid to vent your problems. We give support, share your pain and rejoice in your positives.

My positives - I am positive that I've been awake too long and WILL go back to bed right now.

Kisses

Morning all, sober 292 days and so proud of me.
Connie so sad about your friend. Such a sudden loss. I do admit to all, this is "how" I would choose to go to God. Peace be with you today and each day. Sleep and rest.
Not much planned for today. Had my blood work done, app with PCP next week. Incredible storms yesterday and same expected today.
Giggled at the joke Laureen, will repeat that one for sure.
Sent out a package for our Gchild, Alex, age 8. Bought him a black hat that all the kids here are wearing...the guy from While Collar wears one, Sinatra wore one...don't know how else to describe it. Also sent swim suit, and 2 tops....and $10. Package just for him will make him very happy. Our prego daughter is hating the heat....she needs some cooler temps.
Hope you all enjoy your Saturday, be well and loved, Monica

Monica.... This is a long story, but to make it short... I got into the WLS 50 stuff today because I was cleaning out old bookmarks and clicked here to see if it still worked.  It did.. and lo and behold YOU were the first name I saw, and I'll be darned, wasn't it the same Monica B I danced with in Atlanta in only God knows what year!  2005 Maybe?  Well I ended up having to create a new account because OH did't recognize my old one and when I tried to create a new one, it told me I already existed!  So now this post has to be "approved".  When you get it, I'd love to hear from you!  You look and sound awesome.

WindyPat... yes the one from Chicago!

P.S.  Alex is 8 years old??!?! YIKES, that makes me...... dayummmmn... old enough to be a Grandma.. and I am

HI Pat!

Monica isn't the only one still around. You were a wonderful inspiration to me in 2004-2005 when I was researching the possibilty of WLS. Life is good for me. I hope it is for you too. I'd love an update on you. Still in Chicago???? Any grandbabies? I remember how beautiful you looked at your daughter's wedding. Still in touch with the rest of "the four Pats?"  Many changes in my life. Most good. Three beautiful grand daughters, both kids married with spouses that we think the world of. PLEASE update! I remember your wonderful, witty ways!

Wow wow wow....good to hear from you. Last time I remember speaking with you, you bought a Charger or Camero  and were so thrilled with it. MUCH has happened to me these past years. Know I am good, weight is 160 and that is perfect. Got too skinny at 137, got real sick, became an alcoholic and horrible. But am sober 292 days, eating, and happy to be alive. We did have fun in NJ at the OH get together. Miss many of you, some of us old timer still active and visit here daily. Also good # of us on Face Book. Keep in touch....glad you stopped by.

I remember WindyPat from Chicago ... never met you, but at one point said next time I go through Chicago, we should get together (that was when I lived in Michigan). Now I'm in La., far from the Midwest. Welcome back.

Monica,

I have sat in front of a calendar, taken off my shoes to do the math and still can't figure out when your 1 year mark will be.

292 days is Fireworks impressive.
