First Tuesday in August

Good mornin', ya'll.

PLEASE, everyone in this heat, be careful and take care of yourself!!

I haven't been on here much. Just been busy with my trip to NY, picking up my grandson in VA, going through mail from when I was gone and trying to finish this durn afghan that I think is ugly!! But my DIL picked it out for her coworker who just had a baby.

I want to say again how wonderful it was to meet Marci and Annette in person. We had such a very good visit.

My grandson was supposed to fly out yesterday, but his flight was delayed and he would have missed his connection in ATL. He is 16, and has to make his own connection in ATL. I was there but stood back and watched, he made his own arrangements for his rescheduled flight. He will be leaving the same time today. This is a young man who has MVP status due to all of his airline miles. He has just never travelled alone before. His Mom is anxious to get him home (he will only be home 2 weeks before he comes back here to begin his junior year of high school at a military academy in SC). He would be happy to not go back home at all. He keeps saying "They sent me away, why do they want me back". He is so bitter! I hope that changes and he decides this was

a good thing for him!

Yesterday I fed our son, DIL and both their boys for 2 meals each. And NOT at the same time. Then I ordered a pizza for the boys for a snack before my DH and I went off to bed. G-ma is back!!!

Everyone have a fantabulous day. Stay cool!

Grammylew,

I bet your family is happy you are home. I'm sorry your grandson doesn't understand why hi parents sent him to his school. Like you said hopefully he will "get it" later on.     Mag

Good morning all.

It is a heavenly 65* and sunny right now. A picture perfect day.

Baxter goes for his final puppy shot this morning. We will make an appointment to have his dew claws and 'garbanzos beans' clipped too. (too small to be called nuts)

A support group member has told several people that she refuses to return to group. She is upset because people pick on her about her food choices (ie a bowl of rice only for dinner) and her vow to keep carb loading. This woman is so proud of not following any rules; she had a bracelet inscribed: Bariatric Bad Girl. This is beyond my job description.

Off to shower

Margaret,

He will be a better pet in the long run. My hubby is cringing at the thought but he too will survive.

Laughed at the "garbanzo beans" comment, too ... but why is it men cringe at a male animal being neutered but have no problem with a female being spayed? Geez...! It has the same effect. And it's better for the animal anyway, and for the human home.

My editor in Montana, Wally (Margie's husband) wouldn't neuter or spay his outdoor cats, and then they kept reproducing, then he would threaten to drown the kitties in the creek (although he would say "crik"). Then he would go and write an editorial against abortion, spouting pro-life ... well, he wasn't being very pro-life by killing innocent kitties who had no choice being born because they had an irresponsible owner.

I give my friend Patricia a lot of credit for going into those feral colonies, trapping the cats and bringing them in to the vet to be spayed and neutered. She has kept a lot of feral cats from being born.

Enough of my lecture, Annette ... good for you for being responsible and getting Baxter neutered.

Eileen,

My brother lives in a neighborhood with college students. too often, they leave school, move away but don't take their cats.

Joe catches the cats, has them spayed/neutered, innoculates and feeds them. He recently had a house built for the ferals. Darned nice house too.

Some people should not be allowed to have pets.

Agreed. Patricia gets vouchers for the food and the spay/neuters, but she really needs to become nonprofit, like my Michigan cat lady, Jeanine, who runs Reuben's Room cat rescue. She had an addition built on to her house for the cats ... she had 60 at last count, including Nettie and Diva.

Hi Annette,

Speaking of temperatures, it was still 100 degrees last night at midnight. No breeze to help feel cooler. Love to sit on our back patio in the evenings but just too hot.

That person who won't follow her food plan will get herself in trouble one of these days.      Mag

Mag,

That must have made sleeping very difficult. The older I get the more I feel like Goldilocks - don't want it too hot, don't want it too cold, I want JUST RIGHT.
