Happy birthday ahead of time. You'll love the Black Hills. Custer State Park is gorgeous and has a lot to see. Go see Custer Monument too. It's a work in progress.

Good morning, my OFF sistas!

I keep sitting down to post and I keep getting interrupted.  So much going on in OFFville today!  I look forward to reading about each and every one of you every day.  This community just sustains me, especially when my DH is gone.  I feel connected here.

So yesterday was not all that great, even though I thought it would be.  I had lunch with two of my old college friends, and quite frankly, it was a bust.  I forgot how much one of them likes to talk.  In fact, she arrived late, sat down, started talking and didn't hush for a solid hour.  Now, to me, that's just plain rude.  I was raised to MAKE CONVERSATION, not MONOPOLIZE the conversation, you know?  Making conversation involves a certain amount of give and take, yes?  Anyway, I survived it.

Plus, we ate at Chilis and it did NOT sit well with me.  I won't be eating there again anytime soon.

Today I'm going to just take things easy.  I truly did not feel well all day yesterday and went to bed at 9:30 p.m., which is pretty unusual for me.  I feel okay today, but I'm not going to pu****  Instead I'm going to putter around here and stay inside for the most part.

One thing I do want to finish today is the guest bedroom.  I need to assemble the new white iron headboard I ordered for in there and push all the furniture back into place.  I really think I like the new green color in there.  That little room is pulling together nicely.  I'll take pics and post on FB when I finish.

I want to go buy a bale of alfalfa hay for my deer today, too.  I think I can get a single bale in the trunk of my car.  The poor deer are just starving here.  So many of them, you can see their ribs.  Especially the does.  They're just pulled down from nursing those babies.  You should see them come running when I go out to put corn in the feeder.  I feel badly that I'm going to leave at the end of this week and not be back at all in August.

Tomorrow my daughter and grandson are coming here for a visit.  We're going swimming in the pool and then we might run up to the big Outlet Mall in San Marcos for some shopping.  There's a Cracker Barrel restaurant there, and I know I can eat their food, so we might have dinner out, as well.

DH will be home in just 2 more weeks.  Gosh, I miss that man!

Oh, I see one of my little mommies has come up in the backyard, hoping for a little more corn.  Guess I'd better go out and feed her a little extra.  She's my favorite.

Love you all!

We had a woman in TOPS that would never stop talking. One day she called me and wondered out loud why people avoid her- I very kindly told her that she does not listen to what others need to say. Conversation is give and take, back and forth.  A good listener makes lots of friends. Of course she didn't REALLY want to know the truth- but I told her anyway, ***** that I am. She hated me after that- oh well. I usually will tell the truth if I am asked, and this was done very carefully, not in a mean way at all. I gave her an easy way to be accepted in groups...everyone wanted to be her friend- they just couldn't take the onslaught of talk with no break. It is boring and disrespectful to talk nonstop to someone. I teach that to little children- no I didn't tell her THAT! LOL.

Well, good for you, Julia!  Sometimes the truth hurts, but I believe you did the right thing.  I know I won't be in any hurry to have lunch with that particular friend again.  It's hard for me to believe that they are THAT unaware of their behavior.  I know when I think I'm talking too much, I shut up!

How you doin', hon?  Hope you're getting a little peace and rest now.  You've had a hella summer so far.

Vickie-

Would DH spring for one of those automatic deer feeders that hunters use to bait the deer?  You could load it up with several bags of corn before you leave and set the automatic feeder to go off once a day.  We used those at the refuge to feed whooping cranes a couple of years ago when the drought was so bad and they were starving.  Only problem is raccoons, feral pigs and javelina will also come into the yard and compete with the deer.  Alfalfa might be better.  You coud set up a dripper hose to help the grass grow in one area of the yard.  They'd be happy with that too.

PS  Like the green paint and I'm not in ketosis.  Maybe tomorrow.

Cindi--Before I forget: you really ought to be in ketosis by now.  How many calories are you taking in a day?  I think you need to call your doctor and check.

Well, we do have a deer feeder here, but it's not automatic.  We have it hung low enough that the bucks can bump it with their heads and the corn scatters around.  Seems to last longer that way, but honestly, they are all so hungry, nothing is going to last for long.  I'm feeding about 50# every 2 days right now.  I could be feeding 50# a day,  It's so sad.  How much longer will this drought last?

I did go get that alfalfa hay!  The feed store guy thought I was nuts just buying one bale and putting it in my trunk.  I'm going back tomorrow and get some more.  They just fell in on it this afternoon.  Gee, those bales sure have gotten heavier since I was a teenager!  LOL!  I used to could handle one by myself back when I was riding horses.

I counted 8 babies out there this morning!  The fawns still have their spots, but they've grown so much.  Their mommies are letting them mix with the herd more now.  They even come out and graze on the corn a little.  Guess they're about big enough to wean now.

I saw your moose pics on FB.  I've never seen a moose, but I'm hoping to when we go to Canada next month.  We love to watch the wildlife!  I'm very pumped about it.

I like the green paint, too.  Thanks for commenting.  I'm doing one bedroom at a time.  First I had to buy all the new beds.  That took several months.  Then I bought the new quilts.  I have 3 bought.  Need 2 more.  Next I'm going to design the room decor around the quilt.  I picked the green room first because it's the best guest room.  It's a lot of fun.  I love to play house!  LOL!

I wish my dinner would hurry up and cook.  I'm hungry this evening.  Went down to the pool and did a 30 minute workout.  Swimming always makes me so hungry!

Talk to you later!

 Good morning Monica and everyone.....

Monica....you are on the way to the 300 mark...I am so proud of you!!
A bikini....I  haven't worn one of them in 40 years...I wear a Tani kin so my tummy only shows a bit. Lucky you!!

Annette....you had me laughing out load at your antics getting your Mammogram....only you could make such an event something to laugh about!! Thanks....I needed the laugh!!

Debbie....I would love a hot tub with a naked man in it too...wooohooo!

Judy....you have more issues in that complex....I am scared for you!!

I am down today....I was supposed to be leaving for Minnesota in the morning of Friday the 29th. There are a couple events going on there that I never miss. People have been calling, sending test messages, and emails to be sure I will be there. Well, the money for the trip was spent on new brakes and tires. Plus my insurance company here in Iowa messed up my insurance and withdrew $278 from my account that I didn't know about. Good thing I check my account often!! No money left for gas and things so I will not be able to go!! I have been planning that weekend for a long time....I am BUMMED OUT!!  I miss my friends!

Today I don't have much planned. Hope for a quieter day. Going to get Grace some new movies to watch so maybe I can relax a bit and read.
I might take her to the pool later this afternoon for a little while too.

Wishing you all a really great day. Prayers for many in need....special ones for some.

Love and hugs to all...connie d

Connie, can't they give that money back to you that they made the mistake on?? Seems like they should!!! I would be so upset if that happened to me!!! Another reason I do NOT give my account number to anyone...I pay my own bills so only I have the means to my money!!!

No need to worry about me here Connie...I am used to worse remember? Living in Michigan was by far the worst I have ever been in!!!  But thanks for caring about me!!!

HUGS
