What's been on your mind this last month?

What's been on your mind this last month?

I jus****ched a quick video by Coach Dungy.  I liked the whole clip for it's message but what really jumped out at me is that he answered the question: What's been on your mind for the last month?

If someone asked you that, could you give them an answer?

...Quick...I am asking you -- What's been on your mind this last month?  What pops into your head?

Those answers represent your priorities for the last month.  Do you like what those priorities are?  Are they the ones you meant to have?  Or were they piled on you by the needs of others so your desired priorities were crowded out?

This month, in preparation for a seminar on Becoming a Life-Long Exerciser, I have been reading a book entitled 168 Hours - You have more time than you Think.  Because of this book, one of the things that has been on my mind is: how do I spend my time?

This is important for a number of reasons:
1. How I actually spend my time is representative of my real priorities -- not the ones I wish I had.
2. I am getting ready to take on some new responsibilities in my professional life and (because time is finite) something else is going to have to give.

Ok, you're probably pretty similar to me -- this month you've probably thought about your health, family, friends, work related things --both good and bad, what to cook for dinner, etc.  But the real question is:

Do you have a focus?  If you're reading this blog daily, are you focusing on mindful behaviors for the rest of the day?  Do you commit to spending one week every month journalling your hunger and fullness levels?  Are you setting aside one lunch hour to eat by yourself with no distractions (fellow diners, email, a good book) so that you can really cultivate the habit of tasting what you are eating?

If you're not doing something deliberately, you are not going to get the results you're hoping for.  Hope doesn't create results -- Doing does.  Focus does.

What's are you going to focus on for the next month???

Hi Debbie....wish I knew...my life is a whirl wind ...not much time for me at all.
Everytime I try to focus and plan something my plans get changed.
Oh well...this will be my life for a few more years until Grace is older. Love her so much....but like I said not much time for me. I am lucky if I have 5 minutes for breakfast and lunch....just doesn't happen.

Have a great day...hugs.....connie d

Hugs Connie,
Take charge hon and even if it's something little for you like doing your nails or just sitting in the tub to relax just make time, you can do it. How about when Grace takes a nap?
I know something about picking and choosing time management just for you. I had to do that for myself when my step daughter and 2 grand kids lived with us for almost 2 years.
It seemed like they took over my house, my personal space and worse my spare time.
I had to put a stop to that and not let them do that to me.

One hour a day just for you. Find the time, you deserve it. Meditate, walk, do yoga or Pilate's, read a book or magazine. I also gave this advise to one of my elderly volunteers. Her son, DIL and teen grandson moved in for "just a few months"...it's now been over 3 years.
No one can take advantage of us unless we let them.

Yep Connie, take time for yourself, tell your family it's a "must do" for you. One hour is doable.
Baby steps in even taking your life back. Sometime we think we are helping, then we need to stop and ask are we really helping or are we enabling? Hugs hon, hang in there. Debbie

Debbie...my daughter and Nic get home at 6:00-6:15 PM. We then chat and make dinner. We eat about 7:00.Then there is clean up.  I try to give Nic some time as well as my daughter after dinner. My daughter also works a few nights a week at another job. I go to my room at 9:00....I try to read but am so exhausted all I do is fall asleep. My ex-SIL has had pneumonia for over a week so he hasn't been taking Grace... which is usually my break time. He has her normally 3 nights a week. That is my time. Also my daughter has had meetings and working extra on weekends....those are my times too. Once my SIL is better things should be easier. Having Grace all day and then baths and all in the evening really tires me out. I love her so much...she is a good little girl. This next weekend should be the last one my daughter works for some time too.

I look forward to things settling down!!

Thanks for caring....hugs....connie d

Sounds like you will get your life back next weekend so there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I also tell myself with my younger grandchildren, they are only babies for such a short time and I thought I would never be a grandma so I really cherish my time with the grand kids.
My first hubby didn't want children so he really played me in my 27 years of marriage. Now my 2nd wonderful hubby has given me the life I've always wanted...children (even though my SD are adults) and grandchildren. I count my blessings!
It's nice having the option of giving the grand kids back to the parents! LOL
You are sleeping because you need it! So rest Connie, you deserve it. Hugs Debbie
