It is 9:08 and no one started the thread. . . ok, so here goes,

Happy Wednesday everyone! Another hot one here, hope wherever you are you are staying hydrated and comfortable!

Got up at 4:30, went to the gym, got my sweat equity in, dressed for work, went to the supermarket to pick up yogurt and cottage cheese so I have good things to eat at work and now am here. . .

Today marks my 24th year sober, what an amazing life I've had as a benefit of living and staying sober all these many years, not easy, but doable, as it's done one day at a time. . . anyway, going to an AA meeting at noon, then this evening I am going to be at my Barix post-op meeting giving and getting support.

Wishing you each the best day possible and peace and strength for those of us dealing with life challenges.

Hugs, Laureen

Started a thread the same time as you did, Laureen, so I deleted mine....couldn't believe there wasn't one started....it's 9:45 here in Michigan.

Congratulations on 24 years sober -- that's an outstanding accomplishment.  So proud of you!

It's supposed to get up to 96 deg. here today, with heat index as high as 110.  Hope this breaks soon -- worry about those having to work outside and the elderly.  I know my neighbor didn't turn her a/c on all day yesterday -- she kept the house closed up and dark with fans running and said it was comfortable --she's 87 - I keep checking on her to make sure she's ok....she doesn't want to spend the $$ to run the a/c.  Foolish.

Tomorrow is my toe surgery and I am not looking forward to wearing that big heavy boot for 4 weeks....but its becoming more painful by the day, and needs to be done.  At least I will be able to do some wt. bearing on it.

Hope everyone stays cool and remember to drink your water.  Good thoughts and prayers for all my special buddies here on OFF.

Hugs,
Pat R.

Pat I just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your toe surgery!! Hope it finally gets you to being better!!! my toe is killing me..I refuse to call that "quack" dr to have him touch it anymore!!! So I am thinking I need a "real" foot dr this time and see what they think about what the quack dr did to it!!!

Also I just read in our newspaper that anyone over the age of 65 needs to drink MORE fluids on days like we have been having to prevent dehydration! Older people are lower in fluids than younger ones and that is why we need more to drink to keep hydrated!!

Pat...I am keeping you in my prayers that your surgery goes well.

As for your neighbor....she should run the A/C...it isn't good for someone her age to get so overheated...scares me! I am glad you are checking in on her.

Happy Wednesday Laureen and OFF family to post later...crazy day all ready and yep, it's still hot out there.

I walked inside the hospital yesterday then walked around Meijers after work. Was going to work out in my pool but nope it was ugly outside by the time I got home. Should have gotten my butt to the gym before work. Ugh...I know I should have but today is another day.

I'm stressed, can't talk about it right now but later I will. Life continues on around me and I've got to just push through all this BS. I'll make it, I'm strong. I won't reach for cookies!! Darn comfort eating anyway. So right now I'm sipping on my EAS protein drink and I brought 3 fresh fruits to eat throughout the day along with baby carrots and a WW dinner for lunch. I've got beef jerky on stand-by! See...I want food today and I'm not going to eat any sweets.
That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!

Hugs and prayers for all in need. I'm sure looking forward to Friday! Debbie

Good morning, Laureen and Pat!

Today is a busy day for me.  Got to make a stop at the Courthouse in New Braunfels to file a Warranty Deed.  We bought another lake lot here at Hilltop to give us some more room.  And then it's off to San Antonio for the day.  Having lunch with two old college buddies first, and then I'm taking my daughter shopping this afternoon for her birthday present.  She needs to decide what she wants.  Looking forward to spending this day laughing and having fun!

Pat, prayers for your toe surgery and a speedy recovery.  Laureen, congratulations on your sobriety!  So proud of you!

I'll check back to see what everyone else is up to today when I get in tonight.  Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Love you all!

Morning Laureen and OFF family!!

Laureen...CONGRATS!!!  24 years sober!!!! Now that is something to be proud of!!!! HUGS!!!!

Debbie Jean I know what you are going through with food calling your name!!!! It does it to me all the time lately!!! HUGS

Vickie have fun with your daughter shopping...just remember to drink plenty of water while out and about!!! HUGS

Pat again I want to send you best of luck and also a few prayers for your up coming toe surgery. HUGS

I think I covered everyone that posted before me...:-)

Well Rick is now on his way over to his mom's to get HIS fans!!! Since she refuses to bring them back he went after them!!!! They have central air and they can use that to cool off...our AC is still not repaired and its getting so hot in here and there is now heat advisories out for today and into tomorrow!! So hope she see's that the fans are gone when she gets home from her cafe!!! And Jerry (stepdad) can cook his azz off for all we care!!! He is a jerk and deserves every bit of this hot weather!!!! Rick said no more borrowing anything to them ever again!!! Once they have his stuff they think they ownb it!!!!

Pool water was cloudy this morning Rick said so they are working on getting it right so it won't open up til about 1 today. Waaaay to hot to go out in that hot sun in the pool!!!! Will stay inside where I am out of the sun and not so hot!!!

Read in the newspaper this morning that people over 65 need to drink more fluids in this weather because they do not have as much in their bodies like the younger people anymore. As we get older we lose the fluids. So please drink alot to keep hydrated!!!

Leg is still hurting me and now its more up near the hip area. So I am thinking it is arthritis that is hurting it. Its hell getting old...my grandma always told me that...I believe her now!!!!

Need to call my mom today and see how her dr appointment went with the new dr she wants to go to. She said this dr was recommended by Sister from church. Hopefully this dr is good as Sister says and will take mom on for her patient!!! So tired of the dr mom has now!!! And after the way she treated mom on her last appointment...that dr should be ashamed of herself!!!! Mom asked her if she should get the scripts renewed that they gave her from the hospital and this dr told her "well you are 90 so its up to you!!!" Mom took it like why bother you are 90 and going to die soon anyhow...made my mom so depressed it wasn't funny!!! So hope this new dr will take mom on!!!!

Not much else happening so will get off here and see what else I can get into...prayers and thoughts for those that need them!!!

HUGS

Hi Laureen and all of OFF,

I'm somewhat depressed the last few days. Steve told me he can't see me any more. That his life is really chaotic and has a lot to deal with right now. Well, it was fun while it lasted. At least he told me face to face. Mine is not to understand the whys of it. Mine is to decide how I'm going to respond to it. Thank God it wasn't a long term relationship. I haven't journaled about it yet. I'm sure that will help me to move on.

    Hugs to you all,    Mag
