OT:Facebook sharing??
Learned this weekend that seniors share too much info on FB. Study shows we are too open and post way too much info. I sure am guilty of this. So I went into my privacy settings and changed them, just like report said I should. Limit access to account to friends only.
Just because we are so open Here on OFF does not mean we can or should be so open on other networking sites. Didn't realize this and now I know. Had to share because I care about you all here.
I thought it would be difficult to alter privacy but it was not. Sometimes I wonder how "stupid" I have become on various things that I used to find simple. Growing older can be a rocky road....but I am learning to step over rocks and jump over holes. Yeah!

I have always had my FB setting to friends only. But yesterday I put something on there in a reply to our daughter. About an hour later, as I thought about it, I went back and deleted that post. It was some financial info that does not need to be floating around in the huge internet world. I think all of these places can be hacked by some 15 year old kid who is just curious. Sooo, I accept your warning, it is a good one for all of us to think about.
Facebook caused a nightmare situation for me. Facebook AND email account got hacked.
I lost all my email adresses and a strange email requesting help was sent to everyone, asking for $$$$.
It was so bad that I couldn't access either account to cancel them. Those hackers were good!
A phone call to the FCC was little help. They had received over 10,000 similar complaints in one week.
Make sure that your passwords are a combination of capital letters and numbers. That didn't protect me either so now I don't use words, just random letters/numbers. And for sure, make your settings PRIVATE.

Yes, I make mine only open to friends, especially since I post photos of children (my grandnephews). I watch what I post there about work, too, since some of my friends are coworkers. Don't say anything I don't want out there.
I remember Annette's problems. I was contacted on FB by her hacker, asking for money. I told this faux Annette to beat it, I knew it wasn't here, and Annette would never ask me for money because she knew I didn't have any. He quickly logged off.

Monica,
Thoughtful reminder, I love the social networking site because of the ability to stay connected or reconnect with a choice few people who, due to life, I lost touch with, but I long ago upped my privacy settings to friends only. The truth of the matter is people can find us if they want to by googling, but information that should be private, needs to be under lock and key as best as possible. . .
Have a great day!

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen
