Good Morning,

I'm up icing my ankle. Just took a pain pill so this post won't be long. Sure wish I could take one of these Percocet every night. What a difference it makes in my sleep even with the ankle pain.

I'm now the proud owner of 1/2 OF A PAIR OF VERY EXPENSIVE BOOTS! The design leaves a lot to be desired but it still cost $207.00 for one boot. However, I can walk without crutches and it relieves the pain so much.

I walk like Chester from Gunsmoke. (wow, does that ever date me!) Went to the clinic yesterday as my foot was still very swollen, painful and several shades of green, blue, purple  and red. Exrays don't show a break but doctor said sometimes it's hard to see in the foot with all of the swelling.

So here I am with my glamorous boot, pain pills and need for ibuprofen which I know is a no no. Hopefully I won't develop stomach problems with a few days use. I'm using a "stomach coater" before each pill. I'm on my prune regimen as any pain pills really do a number on my digestion.

Kristin, my new daughter in law, has been a wonderful nurse. She says she spent most of her high school years in these boots. Two ankle fractures, two surgeries, and numberous sprains. She wore out 4 of these things!

I feel la la lad coming on so I'll close before I get too relaxed to type. Have a great Sunday everyone.

Oh Karen, so sorry @ you foot....sometimes a break is better crazy as that sounds. I know my knee sprain took forever to feel better. Sending butterfly kisses of love and healing. I still keep the big bag of blueberry's in my freezer, works great as an icebag.
Can't wait to see the wedding photo's. Keep well and welcome home. Love ya, Monica

Ah, yes, I had one of those boots. I missed a step when I was in South Dakota and severely sprained my ankle. I was out for a couple of days from work and then I was stuck on desk duty for a couple of days until I could hobble around to cover track meets again. Made for a funny column, though. Won me an award.

Morning Monica and OFF-

Congrats on the 258 days of sobriety.  Know that it is hard and your should be very proud!

Well the hot and humid has moved into Maine finally.  Just finished my morning pedalling and will have to take a shower to rinse off all of the sweat!

Picked up a book at the library by Greg Iles, Third Degree.  Could not put it down yesterday.  Watched all those crazy guys who chase tornadoes on one of the channels last night.  Stupidly obsessed these storm chasers.  One of the episodes was filmed on a Sunday in Missouri (not this year).  The roads were so crowded with chasers that traffic came to a stand still.  That is crazy.  So I read the book during commercials and watched the idiots on the TV.  Did not take the book to bed with me as I knew that I would not go to sleep until I finished it.  So what do you think I'll be reading today.

One more day of solid food.  Had a lobster for dinner last night.  It was really hard to chew so don't know how many of them I'll be eating post surgery.

Enjoy your Sunday and stay cool.

If someone posted at the time you were writing your post, her post went up first.
I try to remember to put the person's name first to whom I'm writing the post so that confusion doesn't ensue.
Hope this helps.

Margaret,

Did I remember to say thank you for all the information you sent me on the weather in Canada the other day?  You know I've been travelling the past few days and I can't remember.  If not, THANK YOU!  I was telling my daughter about the weather up there.  You'll laugh at us thin-skinned Texans, but 45 F sounds COLD to me!!! LOL!

Just wanted to say thanks again!

The next 7 days I am going to wish I lived in Alaska.....everyday temps in the mid to high nineties with heat indexes in the 100's.    I just can't handle heat, so I will be inside as much as possible, with the a/c running.

Went to Wal Mart after church to pick up things I will need on hand for the next couple weeks.  Spent $89 - gosh things are expensive anymore.   Hopefully I will be prepared -- have quite a few serving size containers in freezer for meals...

Karen, I had to laugh about your boot -- I got mine out of the closet yesterday -- need to wipe it down with clorox wipes before it goes with me to the hospital - then it will be my constant companion for the next 4 weeks...grateful I didn't have to buy a new one, and more grateful the doc will let me put some weight on the foot.  I hate being dependent on others ......I know - prideful!

Well gonna go watch the British Open Golf Tournament -- it's nice and cool over there with a little rain.   Wish I was there -- had hoped to go one day with my brother, but doubt that will happen now.

Have a lovely Sunday, if you are in the heat please stay hydrated.  I saw a lady out running on my way home around 10:30 -- her face was beet red -- not too smart if you ask me.

Hugs,
Pat R.

Pat, sometimes Alaska can get awfully hot in the summer; I was up there in early June in Fairbanks and it was in the high 80s and humid. And the big flies! Ugh!

My mother's neighbor was outside today pulling weeds ... Mom had to call her and tell her to go back inside, it was too hot to exert herself. It's nearly 100 in the Chicago area, too, and humid.

One of my FB friends from Grand Rapids asked me how to beat the heat ... I told her to stay inside the A/C. That's what we do in La.
