Good morning Monica and OFF family to post later. Happy Hump Day and it's my first day to work this week, just back from vacation from Up North and had a relaxing time.

Came home yesterday and hubby and I mowed the lawn and since I live in the country and I can do this I just stripped and jumped in my 4 ft. pool...naked!! Cooled right off! LOL
It is good to be back home though. There's no place like home!

So hugs and prayers for all in need. Debbie

Sober 247 days and so proud of me.
I was busy at home yesterday, cooked up a huge pot of veggie ragu for me, cleaned things up, and then read. Didn't go to pool, Busy weekend wore me out. Waiting to hear about my lab results. Also wondering what we will do if Lynn and Carla and I can have a face to face tomorrow.
High clouds here today. Really need to get into attack mode for SS card, but can't turn it up. Wish me help.
Really enjoy Suits, Covert Affairs, and White Collar on USA network. The Closer starts last season next week, Brenda is so good. I know I watch too much TV, these character delight me.
Yoda just got up..prancing around and checking his toys, so cute.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. Hugs Monica

Good Morning OFF-

Made myself get out of bed when I rolled over and looked at the clock for the second time this morning.  CPAP needed water anyway so why lay there and fake sleeping.  Have finished my pedaling and meds intake so now I have the rest of the day to clean up this dang house.  I'm having the last windows replaced in my cabin and need to clear a path to the windows for the handyman!

I've been in a funk for the last few days.  Thinking alot about the planned surgery.  Went to a support group meeting last Friday.  One of the surgeon's was there to answer questions.  Learned some new things so it was worth the 80 miles drive.  I hate surprises so I want to know as much as possible before the surgery.  I think I'm going to schedule another office visit with the surgeon about 2 weeks before to ask my last list of questions.  No surprises.

As a result of the funk my head hunger has been high.  For two days I fought it but yesterday was the trip to town and the grocery.  Succumbed and bought some pretzel rods and cheddar cheese spread.  Threw out the pretzel rods and faithfully recorded my intake.  I guess I'll count that as a food funeral!  Saying goodbye to something I won't be eating anymore!  Back on the wagon today.

Weather has finally turned warmer.  The holiday weekend was so-so but now that everyone has gone home the sun is shining.  I have tons of stuff that could keep my occupied and distracted but I can't seem to get my butt in gear to do any of it.  Then I tell myself baby steps, baby steps!

Congrats Monica on another day of sobriety.  What kind of dog is Yoda?  Just curious.

Off to continue clearing the pathway to the windows.  Have a great day everyone!

Cindi, just so you know - after surgery, you will eventually eat "normal" foods again. What is so hard to iimagine is that you won't WANT the junk food. If you make the most of your first year or two - your eating habits really change and the way you look at "treats" changes.

Glad to hear you are asking lots of questions! Way to go!

Cindi--what Lynn says is so true.  I was a total Coke and chocolate addict.  I ate Coke and chocolate every day of my life.  I loved sugar and all kinds of salty snacks.  I went through the "I must say goodbye to everything I love" phase pre-surgery also.  But since surgery, I have had VERY LITTLE urge to eat junk.  Haven't had a Coke since I started my pre-op diet at the beginning of Feb. and don't want one.  Haven't had but just a few bites of salty snacks and virtually no chocolate or candy.  I did taste the frosting when we were decorating cupcakes the other week.  And I did eat a junior mint.  It was good, but I was not overwhelmed with the urge to eat the whole box!

So hang in there!  You're almost to your surgery date.  Things will be very different after that!

Thank you sooo much for your confession!  I am 75 yrs old and I had ice cream every day of my young life right from the cows up the hill down to the dairy store where the ice cream was created!!!  My father was a nut for ice cream and spoiled me rotten.  They were those big side by side cones with huge dips, it was tough to eat it all before it dribbled down your arm!

well that was the beginning of my wayward life, I ran it off in those days but after that 1st child.....you know...fought this body the rest of my life.  Well...no more I want to help my body be slimmer and more healthy until I pass on.

I will admit that I am scared, I have not been told to start my pre-op diet, but I know it is coming and I am over eating bad stuff.  Art brot fried chicken home tonite....bad, bad, bad...and I really want to celebrate my birthday with cakand ice cream before surgery....and Domino's pizza....

 So talk to me.......Sam

Oh, Sam, I can identify.  My mother used to let me have PIE for breakfast!  I know she thought she was giving me a special treat.  But like you, my love of sweets sure did set me up for a lifetime of struggle.

Don't guilt yourself for having a few indulgences right now.  It's a hard thing to say "good bye" to our favorite foods!  But here's the deal: you'll have chicken again--just probably not fried.  And there are ice creams that are WLS friendly for an occasional treat.  There are even sugar free cake mixes.  Not that you will want much of that, but just so you know that there will be lots of food in your future that you will love.

I didn't really believe that pre-surgery, but now almost 5 months out, I'm finding that my tastes have changed so much, I don't miss my old favorites.  I don't have near the cravings I used to have either.  I just don't even think about them.

Take care!  You are on the right track!

Hi everyone!

Monica did you get my FB note? Carla has Friday off and that works for me too. I'm sort of leaving it to the 2 of you to put the pieces together on time and place, etc. Of course you are welcome here if you want to make the journey to Naples again and hang out at our pool - but I'm fine to drive up your way this time.

Yesterday I watched a TON of TV. I admit it, there was an SVU marathon and I caught about 3 episodes, THEN launched into all 3 hrs. of  "America's Got Talent". I'd had an iced tea in the evening that must have hyped me up on caffeine, I tell ya! I also worked on granddaughter Madeline's afghan for Christmas and have it done except for the edging, blocking, etc.

Just working and getting a few bills in the mailbox today. Tonight I have plans with a friend for dinner and some girl talk. Fun!

So...nothing earth shattering but a nice little routine in place. I need to get over to the pool to do some working out. My knee is still a bit sensitive every so often (strained it a little last week) so I have steered clear of the impact classes but miss my workouts and don't want to turn into a couch potato! Seems like every summer I overdo it in some way shape or form.

Take care everyone!
