I'M HOME AGAIN
So glad you made it home safely. I love Mackinaw City, and the island. So neat to be on the island and not see any cars. I also relate to driving in the rain. When I went out to Michigan in May, I drove through torrential downpours most of the time I was on the Ohio Turnpike. Coming home, I drove past so many construction zones both in Ohio and PA.
My Mom turns 85 in September. When she turned 80, we had a big surprise birthday dinner for her on vacation with all my kids, and siblings. Since then, both my brothers passed away. That was the summer before I had my surgery.

Hi Trish!! Yes the trip on the turnpike is usually nasty weather but lately we have been pretty lucky with good weather!!!! I remember moving here 3 years ago and OMG the weather was awful!!! Rained so hard we couldn't see to drive, there was a nasty storm and the lightning hit the rental truck wwe think because we couldn't get the lights toi turn off!!!! It was just horrible!!! And the construction...that needs another look at to see who is making those paths for the cars/trucks to use and swing around!!!! OMG!!!!!
Glad that you had the party for your mom while everyone was still around!!!!

Hi Eliza!!! Yes we had a wonderful time!!! As for the driving, well my friends Phyllis and Jon also went so Jon did the driving from Frankenmuth to Mackinaw and back. So we drove only from Ohio to Saginaw and then to Frankenmuth and back again to Ohio. But it was ALOT of sitting!!! LOL Made up for that with alot of walking once we got there!!! :-)
Its cooler here also today with the threat of storms possible...last day off to enjoy so hope it doesn't do that....

Mackinac is such a fun place. Years back, my daughter was in the Governor's Honor Guard there for 2 weeks during the summer with GIrl Scouts.
