Hi Cindi,
Please be sure to sit down with this friend, speak softly but firmly that it is very important for her to support you in your WLS journey.
Tell her you know it's a lifestyle change and full time commitment. You are approaching this for your health, not vanity. There is nothing to be ashamed about for having to have WLS.
Tell her you would love for her to be your workout buddy too. Take walks together.
Take that 800 lb. gorilla out of the room today. Communication is important.

Now...if she can't support you in your WLS life, make a pact with each other if you want to remain friends. Set boundaries. No talking about WLS if she can't support you. The gorilla has exited the building!!! Good luck. I'm rooting for ya! Debbie

Hello Monica and my OFF friends,
I have a good start to the day. Have taken all my pills and supplements this AM. Also had a protein shake to start the day.  I'm going for a walk now before it heats up around here. I can't go to the pool because I have developed a rash on my arms. No big deal but I can't swim until ti's gone.
May post later after my walk.  As ever,     Mag

Morning Monica, OFFr's,

Congrats on another day of sobriety!

So I'm making the gym a habit now, I am in my third straight week of getting there and while the scale has yet to show any changes, I know it is just a matter of time before it catches on that I am not allowing it to master those fat cells and am determined to fight the good fight.  Today I did 11 minutes on the ARC, a version of the elliptical, but more intense, then 24 minutes on the elliptical and then went on to the treadmill for 21 minutes, in that time I burned roughly 500 calories and did a 5k, which is 3.1 miles.  Tomorrow will be a day off from the gym.

Today has me at work and after work I am going home to enjoy some relaxation time, which is one of the reasons I enjoy going to the gym in the a.m. and making AA meetings at noon because I can go home and hang out guilt free. . .

Well that's it from me, hope you all have a wonderful day, peace and strength to those facing challenges.

Laureen

Hey Laureen,
I need to get back in the habit of hitting the gym.  I am not even allowed to put a sneaker on my left foot yet, from the surgery I had over two months ago.  The toes are still swollen.  I plan on wearing my pumps to work next week, so we shall see.

I also need to get back to my AA meetings.  I had slacked off, not good, for a lot of stupid reasons, not feeling well is one of them.  First thing in the morning is my best time to make a meeting.  The clubhouse near me has a 9 a.m. meeting, which has a neat bunch of regulars.

Hugs,
Trish

Trish,

Does your gym have a pool?  Because water exercises are easy on feet, joints and so forth and it still gets you moving, I remember when I first got started I could not take anything but pool exercises and very limited time on the treadmill, forget the elliptical all together, I could not even tolerate it for a full 2 minutes (lol). . .

As for your sobreity, not preaching here, but meeting makers make it and you are someone with a history that requires regular attendance at meetings, so please get yourself there, almost 24 years later, I can attest to the fact that I still need meetings and generally try to make at least 4 per week, most weeks I make 5, it just keeps me in a positive frame of mind and helps the garbage stay out on the curb. . .

Hugs right back atcha, Laureen

Good Morning Monica,
Congratulations on your sobriety.  That is awesome.  Keep on keeping on.

Today, I had to run out the door to the hematologist's for a check-up.  Being on Coumadin, I see her every three months and get the regular blood work almost weekly.  She is such a sweet lady.  Very good bedside manner.

When I got home I took Utley for his long walk.  Did not have time before the appointment, which I feel bad for.

Today is tidy my living room and finish the coveralls for my grandson.  I am done the machine stitching and now have to put on snaps and buttons.  The fabric is too cute.  Pale blue, with green and brown palm trees and white clouds and the cutest monkeys.  He'll be able to wear a variety of colors under it, or nothing at all if it is hot.

Catch you later.

Hugs, Trish
