SATURDAY MORNING ALREADY

It doesn't bother me at all. I'm not Catholic, but even if I was, it wouldn't bother me. I agree 3 hours of homework a night is extreme! The parochial schools on Portland go all the way to 12th grade. If they want to do a sport too, they are pretty much committed to nothing else! He will be a Junior next year. His sister will be a Freshman. He needs a school that will recognize his ability and will help him excell. Although, then he WOULD have to work. He'll figure it out, soon I hope.

I went to Catholic schools for 12 years ... I think I told you this, but when I had my speech therapy for my lisp, I had to go to the public school because we didn't have a speech therapist at the Catholic school. So I got out two hours early twice a week for speech therapy, to walk the two blocks down to the public school.
I think our Catholic high school in particular was a little tougher than the public schools, but that was good. Not everybody could get through it. Some kids wound up leaving after freshman year and going to the publics. It's not for everyone. The nuns were tough.

Jan...

Boy, I (sort of) wish that was me !!!!!

I've been playing with the idea of moving somewhere that doesn't get as cold in the winter, and where my $$$ will stretch further than New York. And I have NO problem sorting and tossing usually, but I don''t know if I could stuff my life into a few suitcases and a big old pallet. Or two. Or three....

I give you so much credit for following your dream. You are so brave.

And I can only imagine what your gardens will look like.!

I wish you the best in your journey.

How joyous. His name is so powerful. Much love to you all. Hope the Mom can spend peaceful, gazing and cuddling days in hospital. If she is breast feeding, hope the milk comes in well and may her nipples never become sore. Liam will be a hungry man coming into this world at 9 lbs.
Happy for you all. Monica

Candy in Ecuador it stays the same temp year round...no heating bills , no air conditioning. Electric bills run between 7 and 14 dollars a month....the property taxes on the place we bought are 15.00 a year...amazing. the fruits and veggies are sooooooo good and tasty...and sooooo cheap...you can buy all the fruits and veggies you would need for one person for a week for about 5 dollars. Meats are just as cheap with ground beef at 70cents a pound,
and i know you love flowers like i do.....they can be grown outside year round....the normal temp where we are going to be , at about 4000 ft above sea level in the Andes mountains highs about 75 lows in the 50....all the little annuals we plant here for color in the spring and are gone in the fall, there they grown year round. Impatients get huge. ....it is the most beautiful place i have ever been...and the coast is just a quick drive away  if you like the ocean.  when we get ther come visit. all it will cost is plane fare. wont cost anything to stay at our house...lol

Jan

Be careful what you offer.  I may just take you up on it.  Sigh....I'd love to garden year-round.  The winters are murder in my neck of the woods.  Cold, dark, and very, very depressing.  Don't know if I'll survive another one with my "attitude" intact.....

Wonder what a plane ticket to Ecuador costs.....  Where does one fly into, near the place you bought?
