Friday morning Hello

Just woke up at 4, so I'm here with my coffee saying Hi.
Sober 156 days and so proud of me.
It will be hot and humid today. A taste of southwest Fl summer weather. The winter brown lawns here lush green after the recent heavy rains. Pollen count high again.
Since Yoda's blessed arrival, we are watching the Animal Planet. Saw a program called the Bear Wishper. About a man in Mammoth Lakes who works for the town to keep all the people and bears safe. In his 12 years of this, no people hurt and no bears killed from confrontations. There are lots of bears in this town and they roam around pretty much at will. Interesting stuff, he made himself the TOP Bear, yells at them...bad bear when they misbehave and faces them down...respect given and received from each.
Not much on agenda today. Promised Yoda a visit to Pet Land for more bull testicles tendons, called Flossies. The are a dried tendon corkscrew chew that really shines up his teeth and cleans his gums. Yoda's mouth was neglected before we got him, so we are working extra hard to clean off the built up plaque. Got some mouth spray and gel that is working wonders too.
I had a rough day with the VA yesterday about hubby's meds. Posted a big note about it on FB. I got so stressed out and for a while worried about how I could continue control on being sober, just wanted to run away. But I decided to be proactive, not reactive and with God's help with prayers I stayed strong. Too much love and effort and belief in me kept me away from the bottle. I am Monica Calluzzo Bond if you want to visit and read all about it on FB. This is a huge step for me to be open on FB. Here it is safe haven, never judged, but supported.
Slowly cleaning out the cabinets, drawers, and closets in RV. Got out my knitting supplies and decided to make a baby blanket or shawl. Nothing too big, but something soft and gentle. Pattern suggestions request from Annette and anyone else who has a not to hard recipe welcomed.
Hope all have a great TGIF. Grateful for you all. Carla went to see a doctor about her sore shoulder. Now she has this really cute, hot red car...not a scratch on it, but she wa**** hard enough to bump her head and hurt her shoulder. Glad she got it looked at. Hope nothing more than bruised muscles.
Hugs, Monica

Good morning all.  It is the start of a wonderful weekend.  Supposed to get our new carpeting tomorrow.  But it may not happen.  Mary is a little ticked.  She found the contract that she signed.  She told them they had to move the piano and put floorboards all the way around included in the price.  Neither is listed on the contract.  We will see how that phone call goes.

Hope you all have a good day.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Stay strong Monica. The VA system can be so slow to move and VERY frustrating. A pile of yarn and a pattern will get your mind off stress. 154 days strong is a HUGE accomplishment.

PM me with your email address and I'll scan some patterns for a project.

Our swim instructor wants to retire. He has asked me a few times to take over the class. Teaching one class a week would pay for gym membership. Tempting but that is ME TIME.

He pulled a sneaky at class. We had a new person. Jeff called me over, introduced us and asked if I'd help her with the exercises. Not a problem. It didn't take long to realise she has special needs. She used to be a client in the agency I work for and now resides where I used to work. Small world.

Patiently waiting to hear from Marcy that her grandson Liam has safely arrived. She said she plans to hold him until she gets tired. I suggested she give him back before then so he can eat. Special kisses to Marcy, Liam, Caitlin and Will.

Happy Friday OFF family and Monica we are proud of you, 156 days sober! I remember when you started posting about your alcohol addiction. Stay strong, look forward and take it day by day or minute by minute. We are rooting for you and yes, I believe in you!!

Got here early to work this AM, rode in with hubby and he came in with me, he had lab draws this morning.

Michigan is going to have a great weekend and I plan to ride my bike tomorrow. It might even get to 80 on Sunday but it's suppose to rain...that's fine with me, anything but snow!

I continue to stay on track with my Mindful Eating, the pounds are slowly coming off and my clothes are fitting better, the pain from my July emergency is much better and my exercising while not where I want it to be is much better.

Take care everyone, hugs and prayers for those in need. Just know you are not alone. This message is even more important for those who just read about us and have not joined in.
If your weight is going up and your terrified you can take control even if you have to resort to baby-steps. Failure is not in my vocabulary! God Bless Debbie

Good mornin' ya'll!
Monica, Monica, Monica, you are an inspiration to me. So VERY proud of you!
George, don't you watch People's Court, or Judge Judy, or Judge Alex. Get it in writing. I agree, I woyld love to hear that conversation! Hold your ground, Mary!
My PT lady says next Tuesday will be my last day! I am so happy.
Our PCP has still not called with a date for our colonoscopies. Now you would think no one would be anxious to get that done. But my DH won't have one unless I have one at the same time. He is 70 and never had one. After my cancer thing I have been told to get one. The problem is I was unable to keep the miralax down and they have to figure out what to do about that.
Spring is REALLY here, I think. I went out and cut a bunch of lilacs and have them in my living room. I love them most of any flower. And it's one I can recognize. I also know pansy, rose, marigold, lily and daisy. Oh, and cactus.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Good Morning Monica,
You go girl, on staying away from the bottle.  So proud of you.  I know that feeling of frustration when dealing with red tape.

Friday has me laying low, and not doing much of anything.  Toes feel a bit better without the stitches in them, but I am sore in my hip from my bursitis.

I took Utley for his walk, and am now resting the toes and hip for a bit.  Then, I will head out to the kitchen to clean and organize a bit.

Later today, I will hit an AA meeting...gotta get back on track now that the stitches are out.

Have a great day.

Huggles,
Trish

Good Morning Monica, Margo, George, Grammylew, Annette, Debbie and those to come,

Monica, I am so proud of you too!  You are truly an amazing person going through difficult times is a test to early sobriety and you've had your fair share.  Remember that acceptance is the answer to dealing with things that you cannot change, for all the rest, you do the work and whatever comes of it, will be the answer, drinking never solved one problem and usually only creates more.  Be proud and know that we all love you!

Hope Carla finds out all is well.

Acres of land, heck my property is 150 feet deep by 40 feet wide and I have a problem keeping up with that, however do you gals manage?  Speaking of my "god's acre" I am going shopping this weekend for 4 x 8s to make raised beds to plant my vegetable garden in this year, I read somewhere that it is actually a better way to do things, so I figured I would try it.  Lots of garden stuff to attend to, but so little time, I need stuff that takes care of itself, including the grass (lol).  My one roommate said he would tend the outside, but like him as I do and knowing him, he seems to forget to do things as quickly as he is asked, unless it has something to do with something he really wants (lol), I have the only gay male roommate who is more like a man than any gay men I've known (lol).  We shall just see.

Well I'm here at work today, working regular shift (8 to 4), then I have some errands to do on my way home, tonight is a "slumber" party at one of my WLS friends house, celebrating a few of the gals birthdays that fall in the month of April, I will go for a bit and then head home, as I like sleeping in my own bed and besides I'm not much of a party animal on Friday nights.  Tomorrow I will be heading out early, got to get my hair cut, go to my son's to borrow his pickup so I can go to Home Depot to buy the 4 x 8s and whatnot needed to get my lawn and such in shape, go home unload that and bring back the truck, take Roxie for a nail clipping and bath at a friend of mine's dog grooming place, then I should be sufficiently tired and not up to doing anything in the garden (lol).  Women's AA meeting tomorrow night.  So if you don't see me here tomorrow you will know why. . .

Wishing each and everyone of you the best life has and peace and strength for the less than wonderful things of life as well, Hugs, Laureen

Laureen,

Good luck with your raised beds! We have a large traditional garden spot here, about a 1/4 acre I would guess. Hubby loves to plant and plant! This year I had him plant lots of BEANS! Beans have become a staple of my diet. I love fresh pintos. We also planted black beans (never tried those before) and butter beans.

I like to freeze and to can produce. I also like to make jelly, but I guess I won't be doing that so much anymore. We're going to have a bumper crop of peaches this year (barring any unforeseen weather crisis!), and maybe a big crop of pears. I've never had much luck with canning fruit, and I sure don't know how to can peaches without sugar! I don't know what I'm gonna do with all of them.

We also have lots of squash and tomatoes and peppers. I can't wait!

What are you planting in your garden spot this year?

Vickie
