We are currently in Sarasota. Love this area, lots to do. This RV resort has many base units to buy with lanai's. Cute little mobile homes that don't look like mobile homes. There is a huge population of retires in the winter from young retires, 40 & 50's to 80 & 90's. Some people been coming here for 20+ years. Activities abound all inclusive. Shopping, churches, museums, and great beaches. We had 2 days when temp went down to 28 and few really hard freezes, but mostly 60, 70, and then into the 80's. 2009/2110 brought this area some very cold temps and many complained about how bad it had been.
We spent part of a winter in Ocala. Nice area too. They had it much colder this past winter.
I have discovered that being in a place that has much to do is very benefical. Unless you have activities and people around you the transition from working to retirement can be a shock. Leaving my job, selling our home and belonging, leaving our children and friends, embarking on the lifestyle we planned and wanted was ALL to much together. Didn't realize how it would hit me. And it crept up on me these changes. Examine what YOU want your life to be like after working. Explore the areas medical, social, and economics. This area is expensive, but many bargains and free things to do are there for here. Area reaches out to residents of all ages to offer all it can. Good luck, Monica

Thanks Monica for all that info ...your so right, retiring can be a sad lonely thing depending on a persons situation in life. I dont plan on actually ever retiring (GOD WILLING) but just so that I can from one job on to another even if it is volunteer or something .
I think we all need a purpose to rise and feel wanted and needed and like we can give back in some way .
I an hoping to be healthy and in good enough shape to do all this of course and with God in my corner I just know it will be ok .
Again thank you so much and indeed will check out that area I think .
