Need to stop losing
I too have the problem of loosing too much weight. I am down to 113, and for the first time in my life I am underweight. I was not even underweight when I was born.
I drink two shakes a day loaded with protein, fruit, yogurt and other things. My main ;problem I believe, is my job. I work for Lowe's and my schedule is not the same one day to the next. For the next week, I will be closing so I will take a half hour for lunch as they want to close about a half hour early to get home. Therefore I cut my lunch down to a half hour so I don't loose hours. I am more active now than I have been in the past thirty years so I know that requires more calories than before.
I snack on nut clusters, protein bars and other finger foods during the work day. Work has been very accommodating letting me keep such items at my work station.
One thing I have noticed, my skin is getting very thin. I ended up the day yesterday with a total of nine band aids on. One very large one on my arm where I tore about a one and a half inch piece of skin off of my left arm from a card board box. It doesn't help to wear a long sleeve shirt as I get injured even through the shirt.
At my age, I am thankful be be back at work. It gives you a purpose for your life helping others. It's fun to have customers ask, "Why are you still working". My answer to them is " I enjoy it." It is true, I really do enjoy it. I use the extra money to give back to my church and Lowe's for items which I use around the house for repairs. I am just completing changing over the main service entrance for my electrical service at the house and installing solar at the same time. When you look at it, they are getting paid for me working there. My goal is to be the store manager within the next twenty years.
God bless everyone and keep Him close during your journey.

Wow Jim, and I thought I had lost too much! I'm going to talk to the nutritionist at my doctors office on Monday. It sounds like you need to start eating more real food too. What a journey we all have been on. I know about the thin skin thing too. Even with work gloves my skin still tears. My little rat terrier keeps my arms looking like they have been through a meat grinder at times. Good luck. with the regain.
Sybul, I don't have any advice to offer as I am fighting the 30 lb regain monster. Evidently not fighting back hard enough! However, I feel great. Just want to let you know that I wish you well. You had this surgery to get your life back to be healthy enough to do everything you've been missing out on. Several people with lots of experience gave you great advice. You can do it with support from your nutritionist and using your head! I know it's going to be hard. Gaining is the last thing that your mind wants you to do but do it by adding healthy foods and being totally aware of why you are doing it. Little tiny baby steps and one day at a time you can add a few pounds and feel and look much healthier. Take care, I care.
