Tuesday gone with the wind!
So wed I go for my pre-op appt.and start my liquid diet Sunday and I have been very anxious. But I am calming down. Reading your posts and replys have helped.
I have confession, I am a diet-coke-aholic. That is my biggest anxiety. What will I do? Its not the caffeine or the taste, Its the carbonation. I love it! The stingy feeling when I first take a drink. I know I have addictive behavior. I used to smoke, drink, sex, I guess I have replaced it with diet coke. UGH! Let's just hope there is a protein mix I can hook up with next.

So now ya know my demon.
Well OFF ya'll have a good Wednesday and rest of the week.
Oh I have a cat, her name is MIJA. She is really needy right now since my son has left, and I am not alot in the mood to cuddle with her. So she runs thru the house crying. I am not heartless, just irritable.

There are reasons why we are not supposed to have carbonated beverages at least for the first year and really better to stay that way. . . supposedly the carbonation can cause stretching of the pouch, but it can also cause ulcers in our newer small stomach. . . not to mention it's just plain not good for us. I think a good many of us here have complusive, addictive behaviors, which is not unusual these days (lol).
As for the profiles, some people have theirs as private and therefore you cannot access their profile unless you put in a friend request and it is accepted by them, so just ask, many will grant it, others, may not, but it never hurts to ask.
Have a great day!

Sharon,
Sounds like you have a pretty good "grip" on things right now. Hang on, it's one heck of a ride but full of many new and wonderfulful experiences. Like all new things there is definitely a pretty good learning curve.
We're here to support you. Your surgeon and his/her staff are knowledgable and should be willing to answer all questions. If you can, find a local support group. One can never have too much support! Have a great day.
Re: Diet Coke. I used to consume a lot of Pepsi. Then I switched to diet Pepsi. Then the caffeine got to me so I went to caffeine free Diet Pepsi. Finally got it through my head that I was just drinking chemicals that were not good for me. Now I mostly drink water. Once in a while when out to dinner if Mike has diet Pepsi I'll have a sip, but not often.
You'll figure something out. I have friends who drink pop after the carbonation is about gone, but it sounds like that is what you love. You don't want to end up with ulcers. From what I hear of others that can be really miserable and life threatening in some cases.
Have a great day. PS Yoda is Monitca's new furry friend.

I can relate! I was a Coke-a-holic. You remember that old Coke jingle: "Ice cold Coke on the back of my throat!" mmmm, I loved it! That wonderful fizzle!
I had a Coke for breakfast every day of my life since I was 16 years old! I never thought I could give them up. And I refused to even try for about 5 months of my long 6-month pre-op wait. I kept saying, "I know the surgery will force me to give them up, so I'm not worried about trying to do it on my own right now!"
Well, finally, a few weeks pre-op, I ran out of Cokes one day, and I decided that I would just try it for a day without a Coke. I kept waiting for the withdrawal headache to develop, but it didn't. So I did a second day, then a third day. Then it was time to start the 2-week liquid diet. Before you knew it, I had just kind of slid into it.
I'm very happy to report that post-op I have not craved a single sweet thing, including a Coke. It never occurs to me to even want one. And there's a six-pack in my garage frig right now, but I never think about them. So cheer up! Your addiction is about to be over and you're going to feel so much better!
BTW, I always said that I had twin demons: Coke and chocolate. Both of them are long gone now! WLS is the best thing you will ever do for yourself!
