STILL SAD EVEN AFTER 4 YEARS...
Spike was your baby. It's okay to feel sad, you are normal feeling this way so allow yourself that feeling and embrace it. Spike will greet you one day, he's just waiting for you at Rainbow's edge. He is having fun just waiting for you and playing with others fur-babies waiting for their human to join them.
Bandit is there for you now and giving you comfort. We are here for you. I'm here for you. I know what it's like to lose a fur-baby that is extra special. My little Josie was killed by another dog, just playing with her. She was a Lab and accidentally bumped Josie's top of her head in her soft spot and was killed instantly. Now she wasn't attacked like your Spike but Josie was and always will be in my heart, she got me through my divorce, she was so healing to me and never left my lap.
Josie is also waiting at the Rainbow's Edge and now I know she is playing with your Spike!
Josie was my 3 pound Chihuahua with the biggest heart, I used her for Pet Therapy for Nursing Homes. Great big hugs to you my friend. Hold on to Bandit. Debbie
I still cry sometimes missing Josie and try to remember the joy she brought to me and others.
Try to let the guilty feelings go now, love yourself because Spike would want that for you.
I do know how you feel, I've been there. I'm sending you a big tight hug! And so is Spike!
Debbie, I try!! I really do try to let go but it is so hard to do!!! This woman lied to the judge and so did the vet and her girlfriend!!! This dog also attacked her friends sog and hurt it as well after he attacked Spike and I just know it attacked again!!! This dog should have been destroyed a long time ago yet she walks it all ove and is so dam proud of him and herself!!!! Makes me sick!!! I am so happy I do not live across the street from her anymore and have to see her or that dam dog anymore!!!!!
Thanks for the tight hug!!!!! :-)

I had very bad dog owners when I lived in Portage. They had a pit bull along with 3 others dogs and cats. They never walked the dogs and when the pit bull got out which was often she would run after joggers. All the neighbors would go after this pit bull with rakes, I even had one jogger run into my house because she was so terrified, I was sitting on the couch and she burst into my house, I totally understood why she didn't knock.
Then this owner who was constantly drunk or high on drugs would yell at the neighbors. I jus****ched this circus get worse, especially in the summer. One day the pit bull got out again and the owner didn't catch her, she was cruel also to this pit bull and she called the Human Society to come get the dog. I caught the dog and put it in my garage until the HS came. By this time, I had worked a few hours with this dog and brought her out on a leash, had her sit by my command and the guy said to me well this is a nice dog and I told him yes but it needs to be in the country and contained, she just has a bad owner. He asked me if I wanted to keep this dog and I declined right away. No way should this dog be in the city, it needed to run and have someone pay attention to it. I respect animals but I'm not that found of pit bulls, they do get a bad rap and my GF has one that is the biggest baby you'd fine but they are scary with those jaws.
I prefer my little dogs, I know I would have loved your Spike.
When we moved to this lower apartment I didn't know that there was a pit mix down here!!! If I had known this I never would have taken this apartment!!! But its to late now to move again...but my understanding was there are to be NO pits nor pit mixes in here at all yet there is a few!!! WHY?? No clue!! And this dog has torn half an ear off another dog!!!! So why is this dog still in this complex???? No idea!!! New manager here so we shall see what happens. All I know is I keep a very close eye on Bandit when I let him out on patio for potty or fresh air. If ANY dog is out he comes inside!!! I will not take a chance of him being attacked...yeah I am scared ****less!!! But can you blame me? There is a huge black lab across the hall from us...BIG baby!!! But I do not trust him at all with Bandit. They have both been out at the same time and they both charge at each other so I bring Bandit in right away. They laugh at me. To bad!!! The don't know my fear!!!
My nephew has a pit big bby...do I trust it? NO!! I have no use for a pit or a rot or a doberman. they scare me to death!!! Never cared for them at all and I never will.
Glad that you took care of that pit and they found it a nice country home though...:-)

My stepdaughter got a pit mixed puppy at the animal rescue. Now Tinkerbell thinks she is a lapdog and will lick you to death! But...this Tinkerbell is not allowed over when we are babysitting grand babies. We don't trust her at all either and why my SD got this dog is beyond me...don't know what she was thinking and her dad told her he does not trust this dog even when she was a puppy. She took her to dog obedience school and Tinkerbell cuddles with her 2 cats and when I doggie sit, I make sure she is gentle with my dogs, she is pure muscle and is strong. We have 10 acres for the dogs to run and it's fenced so Tinkerbell runs to her heart's content but we are very careful when we have her for the weekend. My hubby always says "I hate that dog" and has told his daughter that she is responsible if something happens. Why put someone at risk for a pit rescue???
Part of Tinkerbell's problem is she thinks she is a little dog.
I plan on getting another tiny chihuahua when my other babies pass on to the other side. I can't ever be without my little dogs. Hubby has always had big dogs and now has adjusted to my cute little fur-babies.
I seen the cutest little Min-Pin when I was strolling my grand baby on Saturday, at first I thought it was a Chihuahua, she was so cute, her name was Molly and she had on her coat. She was very friendly but was guarding her yard! LOL
My ex sisterinlaw had a doberman and he turned on her!!! Now how is that for ya??? I used to love big dogs and now after what happened to Spike I have no use for them at all!! I don't think I would ever have a big dog again...and a pit...even a mix...I do not care how it is raised...it can NOT be trusted at all!!! Sorry if I made someone upset that reads this but its how I feel about those breeds!!! They get a bum rap and I wonder why?! Because they CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!!! Once those jaws lock down its hard to pry them off!!!!!
You are doing the right think keeping it away from you and the baby/kids when you are babysitting!!! :-)
As for the dressing up the dogs...lol Bandit will never let that happen!!! He hates getting his sweater on when its freezing out!!!!! LOL
