Saturday and March Break - What's new with you?

Oh Debbie how nice for you and for them. Such a relief to have it rent and knowing the people is comforting.
Sorry Angus got you up so early. Yoda kissed me awake at 5:30, but he didn't need to go out. He has a strong bladder. We got back from a walk about 1/2 hr ago. Good walk, chilly out, but sun is shinning. It got down to 42 last night.
We used to go to our kids basketball, football, soccer games. Now we go to dog parties. Big party at a local Vet Hospital this afternoon. We are bringing blankets, pillow, alcohol, and Qtips to donate. Their website had a list of needed donations and that helped us decide what to bring.
I am so grateful for the new lease on life Yoda has given me especially. Having him to take care of, pamper, play with, feed, and love has lifted me, like the Traveling Bra. Hubby is loving and enjoying him too. But for me his presence is transforming.
Have a good day of melting snow. Monica

I'm up to let out the dogs and then it's back to bed until I feel like getting up.
Former students asked me to have lunch with them, so I'll meet them at a local restaurant at 1:00 to catch up on their lives.  They were from a group of students I taught two years ago - mostly mature students who were very serious about their classes and course material.  They were among my favourite groups and I'm honoured that they think enough of me to want to have lunch with me.
Well, the dogs are wanting back in from the copious amount of snow that fell yesterday.  I thought that we were through with winter, but the month of Match had other ideas.
Have a safe weekend.

hi! im up...work for three hours today
i mentioned that i am staying with a friend closer to my work; today i need to go to my place to get some things and kindof sit and reflect about what my next step is......it's causing some heart strings to be pulled in re my mother and also some "head strings"...i have to look out for me and this one is a tuff call...and i alone can make it....

i had planned on going to ohio to see my kids and grands for a week in between classes and the granddaughter that i want to see won't even be there-my daughter wants "mom and me' time which is always precious to me -however i am just not sure that i can afford to go....

i'm ready for good weather....sit outside under a tree weather.....

studying for finals--doesn't feel like it's been 9 weeks since i started classes!and i'm getting excited about the next round--one is a hybrid class-online every other week and on ground in between....a neat challenge for me!!!!

daylight savings time-tonite-helps!!!!!

hugs and prayers.............

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good Morning Margaret, Friends. .

Woke up to sun and that is a good thing, as we had so much rain that it caused lots flooding around.

Sad for the many affected by the earthquake and tsunami. . .  prayer for those people

My day today consists of another trip to NY though this time I am not going as far, only about 2 hour drive each way.  Celebrating a cousin's 70th birthday and will visit with my sister from another mother while there, as that is my way of touching as many bases as I can when I make such a trip.

Wishing everyone the very best day possible, peace and strength to get through the rough spots.

Hugs, Laureen

Saturdays are cleaning and catch up days for me since I'm in school all week.
However, today I am taking my daughter and her fiance to their "birthing class". My grandson is closer to making his appearance so she is getting ready. I'm going to be a grandma again..this is only the second. And a BOY!!!! Thats almost unheard of in my family, we all tend to have girls.
I guess tomorrow I will spend time cooking and getting ready for the work week. Some of the schools here had a week off during February, their mid-winter break. My school does not do that so we are all suffering from spring fever and our vacation doesn't come till April. SO....I'm really just hoping to see some sunshine and feel some warmth. I am over this snow!!!
Now this week for us its not snow but, flooding....ah well Mother Nature really doesn't seem to be in a very good mood now does she??
Blessings to all...
Prayers out to all who need them , no just out to you all...you are all angels .

Good Morning Margaret and OFF,
I was out doing volunteer work last night for our homeless ministry.  Today I have some more to do.  I also have some tidying to do, and my son is coming by to help me with something I don't have the strength to do.  Nothing really exciting...just chilling when I am not doing those things.

Have a great day.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning, OFF!  I've been MIA for the past few days.  Been dealing with my husband's medical issues and lots of tests.  My husband had prostate cancer a couple of years ago and underwent surgery to remove the prostate.  We thought that was behind us.  But recent bloodwork indicated an elevated PSA level (he shouldn't have ANY PSA after the surgery), so we had to find out what was going on.

Unfortunately, we still don't really know.  He had both a CT scan and a full body bone scan, and nothing showed up on either one--which is good.  Local doctor suspects there is a clump of cancerous prostate cells that errupted through the wall of the prostate before it was removed, and they've lodged somewhere in his abdomen.  So, we're setting up an appointment with MD Anderson (In Houston) for next month.  They have more sophisticated testing than we have available here.

I'm doing okay handling the "stress" and I haven't felt the urge to eat-in-a-crisis that I usually do.  That's good.  But I have been focusing more on him than on myself.  I haven't been giving my own diet much thought recently, and I need to do that.  Still on the pureed food until Monday, and then I can graduate to soft foods.

Glad to read all the posts from the past few days.  Glad all our sisters on the west coast and Hawaii have fared well.

Hope to get out and do some gardening today.  Enjoy your spring break everyone!

Hi Margaret and my OFF family:

It's nearly 1 p.m. and I'm finally getting here to post. Didn't sleep very well ... well, when I finally got to sleep, I did OK, but it took me awhile because of the night sweats and pain, and then I woke up with pain again too, a headache and neck ache and my fingers are all swollen. Two more days of my six-day stretch. I think it will get even worse because we're losing another of our young chicks ... flying the nest. When I took this job, I was told there were 22 editors ... well, I'd be surprised if there were 10 now. And they're not in a hurry to hire. Plus we're all dealing with people on furloughs.

Sad to see all the stuff about the earthquake and tsunami and now the reactor explosion in Japan.

Chatted with Janet a little on FB ... I'm looking forward to seeing her in Dallas in April when I go. Hope to see lots of Dallas friends and family. Don't like the gas prices but it will be just one week (or even less actually).

Well, not much else happening. Just work tonight again. It's 72 degrees here and sunny. Have a good day.

I decided to do something productive with my day.  I'm making green tomato pickles today.  Raided my BIL's green house to get the tomatoes.  Went to the store and bought onions and peppers.  Now I'm ready to begin all the chopping and slicing and dicing.

I realize that a great deal of my existence has always centered around food and the kitchen.  But just because I've had WLS doesn't mean that the kitchen is taboo to me now, does it?  I'm still gonna want to can and preserve and cook.  I may not make jelly anymore, but I love to make pickles and to can produce from the garden.

Found a couple of really good recipes this past week that are perfect for my new "eating regimen" (not DIET!).  One is for black bean hummus.  Really high protein.  The other is for a ricotta cheese "pudding", but there's no sugar in it, just SF Jello.  Again, really high protein.

Where do all of you go for inspiration and new recipes that are high protein, low fat, no sugar?
