OT: A man and a chainsaw

I'm a single woman, have been for almost 13 years, and those of you who know me know that I pretty much like it that way.  I'm independent, love my cats, and like my solitude.  Plus, I like the TV remote all to myself.

But sometimes a girl just needs more, ya know???

It's been really windy here for the last three days, and that continued last night.  I woke this morning and looked out the back window and saw that one of the trees in back of the house had broken all to pieces and there are 20 foot limbs lying all over the back lawn and ... gasp ! ... in some of my flower beds.  No way I'll be able to cut them up with my trusty hand saw.  And trying to hire someone to come to the house for an hour's work with a chain saw is pretty much an impossibility.

This is one of those times when I wouldn't mind having a man in my life.  One with tools.  Who knows how to use them.

Sigh.......

Tools, huh. . .  they all come with tools . . .  it's up to us to see how the tools are used. . .  lol

Oh dear,   I don't often loan him out, but yanno Ron does have a chainsaw & this would be right up his alley.   If he cuts them up for you, will you use the fire for firewood?

Jan, I don't have a fireplace,  so I think I'll pass on starting a fire, especially considering that he's your hubby.....

Dear Candy,

I am also single, and don't have my own chainsaw.  I have had good luck using Craigslist.org to find resources for one-time needs such as this.   Probably much cheaper than calling a professional tree service company.  These days lots of folks are looking for ways to earn some money by using their skills freelance.  I typically call several and trust my gut feeling about the person on the other end of the line.  Since it's outdoor work, less of a risk, but you can have a friend or relative present when he comes to do the work if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Good luck.

And hello, thanks, and God bless to you all the OH friends on this chat line.  I get so much from it!

MMMMM, love handy men and their tools.
I'd call the local fire department non-emergency line. They may have a lead to someone who does clean up or needs firewood for next year.
Good luck and I hope you find the right man, with the right tools, who knows how to use them very well.

Candy,

I can't write a response without being way naughty. Thanks for a good chuckle today.

Okay, I'm a man w/both tools & and chain saw.... but alas, I'm here and you're there.
In my suburban neighborhood, when a tree comes down, esp. on the weekend, we of the"seldom-get-to-use-those-suckers" fraternity swarm to the toppled foliage and attack like a horde of African Ants.  It's not a pretty sight and we're certain that one of these times Bob will come up missing - he's the smallest in the group, but he's darn quick, out of necessity.  I get choice on the firewood as I'm the only one left with a woodstove - everyone has converted to gas f/ps and we have one of each.  BTW - am I the ONLY man on this geezer list?   Pop-Pop
