Colonoscopy?

Does anyone know if bypass patients can have colonoscopies?

sorry, can't get out of it that easily.....lol

They will give you different "cleansers" than people with "normal" intestines.

      We sure can. It was more difficult to drink all the liquid than before, but my doctor said to do my best.

I am 64 and have had two since my RnY in 2008.  No problems.  But the prep is still no fun.

Good luck with yours.  Although it is not the most pleasant thing to have to do, it is an important health care tool.

Yes, I had mine at age 50, a year after my gastric bypass. So I had a different prep. GI doc knew just what to do for me. Actually, it was a much better prep ... didn't have to drink the whole gallon of salty crap.

Hi Rudie...I had mine done not long ago and I didn't have any problem at all...just tell the dr that you had WLS and have different set up for your plumbing now...you will be ok!!! Hey if I can do it...anyone can!!! ;-)

Thanks everyone for answering. I feel much better with all the encouragement and atta girls. Tomorrow I start the liquid diet and "gee whiz" bathroom prep. I can hardly wait. Extra fun because we only have one bathroom. At least my appointment is at 6 am and I'll be able to have real food soon after, or maybe not.
