Is it possible that I could have gotten a bad batch of Optifast. I have been taking it for a week as prescribed, 4 per day. I was told that these shakes were terrible tasting, I have no problem with the taste at all in fact I think they taste great. I had the impression that soon after I`d start drinking this stuff, that I would have diarrhea, nothing like that has happened yet.
I was also suppose to be hungry and I have had none of that so far. I got the impression that along with shrinking the liver, Opticast also flushed out the bowels. If there is nothing wrong with the Optifast, what am I not doing right.
BTW; I live in Canada so maybe the Optifast regime does not happen for everyone.
Thanks

I can only hope your next batch of Optifast tastes like hell, gives you a bad case of diarrhea, and makes you ravenously hungry. Then perhaps you will feel like a success with it...:)
But you're probably right. Everything over here tastes bad, gives you diarrhea and makes you hungry. But we don't care, we'll eat it anyway. That's why we had WLS.... We just ate it anyway.

To answer your "serious question" - each surgeon has their own way of doing things leading up to the big day. . . mine did not have me do a "liquid diet" leading up to surgery because she had asked me to try and lose 10 lbs prior to surgery and NOT to gain any weight, as that would be cause for cancellation of surgery. I successfully did what she asked and so I had no issues, however, other patients at the place where I had my surgery did have to do the "liquid 2 week fast", one of my dear friends had her surgery cancelled because of a cold she got just before and so she wound up on it for about 3 weeks.
What dear Janet was saying is don't look a gift horse in the mouth, if you are not suffering the possible side effects from being on Optifast be grateful, just because something says it might give you those effects, does not mean it will happen.
Have a nice day and good luck with your journey.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen
