Happy Monday, y'all

Hello my OFF family:

Just sitting here watching my recording of the Oscars (yeah, I know who won, but I still like to watch them).

Not a lot going on ... but I did officially pass my probation at work (I was told I actually passed it a couple of weeks ago, but since we don't have an HR director anymore, the paperwork doesn't get done). So I had to go into my boss' office and sign some paperwork. Yippee. Doesn't get me anything. But my boss did admit that the Monroe sports people don't meet deadlines (which I said and now she realizes because her friend is now meeting the same obstacles I was ... but she wouldn't believe it when I was saying it). Oh well ... water under the bridge.

Got a message on my cell yesterday ... a friend from Chicago, someone I hung around with in my high school days (she didn't go to my high school) ... her mom died two weeks ago. Seems we're all losing our parents now. Her mom was Japanese, and her dad German-American, met her mom during WWII ... she was a real sweetie, used to make us fried chicken to take to White Sox games. I will have to call her this week when I'm off.

Well, that's all from me. Chat away.

Good morning, Eileen and all those following!

Here I sit at 4 am....I'd gone to bed Sunday night at 10:30pm, tired and fell asleep right away, but darned if I didnt wake up at 3am, wide awake again, and felt I might as well get up rather than wake JB up with all my tossing and turning.

It is currently FREEZING RAIN outside and I'm not at all impressed. We had almost a foot of snow Friday morning and our road was impassable due to drifts..I couldnt even see across the road so I had to miss my Workshop up in the Falls..it was how to use social media to promote your business...I am not at all a techie so I really needed to take that workshop, and well-prepared I was, even had my laptop all charged and ready to go, but all for not.

Of course, JB and Derek have worked day and night Fri and Sat, to clear the business plazas of snow and ice.  In fact, Derek, after working all day out in the cold on Saturday, then did the 7pm-4am shift at the club (as a Bouncer), headed home, stopped and shovelled all the sidewalks at all of his properties, got home, changed, had some hot soup then went back out, this time with one of his big dumptrucks and plowed all morning into the afternoon, got home to sleep 3 hours and was back out there again with JB.  Derek says he is getting too old (33) for this kind of crazy schedule & JB says that he was sure that he had retired eight years ago...?

Yesterday, my friend Feir, a Dr. of Hypnotherapy, and I hosted a "Hot Stove Chat" (seated around a hot wood stove in a corner) at a local Tea Shoppe and sat and chatted about hypnosis and spirituality with a number like-minded people who came out to spend a few hours with us...what an awesome afternoon!

We will be doing this every Saturday afternoon...even discussing books by such as Gary Zukav (Spiritual Partnertships),
Napolean Hill (Think & Grow Rich), John Sarno (The Divided Mind) and more.

Sunday,  I attended a WARM International Women's Day Luncheon Fundraiser...WARM- being Women's Addiction Recovery Remediation. It was a rought drive but I made it. The Keynote speaker was Sandra Bell-Lundy, a female cartoonist who draws/writes BETWEEN FRIENDS comic strip, syndicated in both Canadian and American newspapers.

Later, as the event closed, I went over and asked her for an autograph and she even drew a cartoon for me as well!  I dared to ask if she would consider speaking at one of our Buisness & Professional Women's Club dinner meetings and she gave me her personal email.  I also got to see many old friends and associates that I hadnt seen in some time so it was a great afternoon.

Our table of ten had to laugh though, they announced a Moment of Silence for those struggling with addiction, and we called it a MIRACLE, because, for one solid minute, 370 women were COMPLETELY SILENT!  : }

It was another 40 minute drive home on the highway, the side roads were the hard part, the slush being so deep and pulling the car to the side where the deep ditches are, somewhere under the drifts, but I made it home safely.

Monday consists of swimming, writing for my websites, artwork as I design the logo for the Wellness Fair and the poster, then a LifePath group in the Falls. If the freezing rain contiues, I am just going back to bed.

Have a safe and wonderful Monday!

Good morning, ya'll.
A busy weekend. Still working on my genealogy. I seem to be missing some pix that I had in my previous book. It came to me in the night that those pix are probably all on floppies. My first book was made in 2000, and most everything was on floppies. So this morning I dug out a very heavy box of floppies, both mine and Dad's, and I need to put stuff on CD's. I have an external floppy drive that I haven't used in years!
My grandson's girlfriend loves that afghan with the intricate border. I would like to make her one for her birthday. But my pattern is baby size. I would love to have one for an adult size. Anyone wanna share?
PT this morning then a trip to Michaels for that cloth stuff you can print pictures on for my cousin's pillow. So many projects, so little time! Why can't I find some projects to do while getting some exercise.
Everyone stay safe and warm. I hope Spring is peeking out in your areas. Oh, and I hope you can all find cheap gas this week!
Have a fantabulous day!

Hi Carolyn,
I scanned that pattern called Anastasia into a .pdf file.  Only I don't see a way to post it on OH without having it on a website.  OH only does pictures or URLs.  If anyone PMs me with their email address I will send it to them.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free download from www.adobe.com that can open a .pdf file.
This afghan pattern is for adults but everyone in my family, except me, is tall.  So I add one quarter more stitches to the center and I gauge by holding the edge up to the center whether I need another pineapple or where to make the corner.
Good Luck,
Bev

Morning everyone!

Headed back to Houston today for my post-op visit.  I'm excited to see what I weigh on the doctor's scales as opposed to my scales.  Also excited because today I get to start the pureed diet!  I'm ready to have some food with flavor again.

Have a great Monday!

Good morning Eileen and OFF family, Happy Monday!

Roads were slick this morning with blac**** took my time getting here and now have to relax my muscles! All ready got my payroll done this morning and today I'm filling in for one of my volunteers to deliver patent's mail and flowers...I'll get a lot of walking in today!

I too watched some of the Oscars, I like the pre-view best looking at what people are wearing...all spiffed up, some stars shine with excitement, some don't.

Hugs and prayers to all in need. Debbie

Good Morning Eileen and all,

I know I have been MIA for a bit but like others, I am here just not posting.

I signed up for 3 months of WW online last week and today I will actually start. I am trying to get rid of about 15lb regain. I'd like to fit back into my favorite clothes this summer or at least be into some of them. I did this before and did pretty well, I'm hoping with my "tool" I will be successful again.

It has been record cold here in the minus' and snow.

Tom has had 3 phone interviews for professorships in various areas of the country. A new big adventure may be in our future.

Off to get ready for work and I will try to post more often. I know I've said this before...but I will pop in more often at least. Thank you for you all who are faithful and there for us lurkers.

Cheryl

Good Morning Eileen, Everyone Else!

Had a wonderful weekend, peace reigning once more in my home and I spent time going through things, making a box here and there of things I am going to either sell or donate, as I've decided that my house is too small to contain all the stuff I've held onto for sentimental reasons and so I hope that each week I will go through my rooms, eventually my storage space upstairs and the basement and I will be lightening my load.  With Diane gone now, it is making it easier to do this, she still has to come and collect the stuff she has in my basement, which is taking up at least one quarter of that space, but she will be doing that soon.  My friend Helen will be moving in come April, thinking she will work out well, she is a bit older, works part time and about to start collecting SS, so she will be able to pay her rent on time, she likes to be social, has an aging mother that she spends weekends with often enough and also likes her solitude at times, so I'm thinking this will be a good situation for both of us.

Otherwise, I did my usual things, cook, clean, food prep for the week, Tony and I hung out yesterday, whi*****luded taking our girl Roxie to the dog park, it was one of the first nice weather days that we could do that and it was great, as everyone was there with their dogs.  Roxie got worked out and when we got home, she was pretty tired.  Watched some of the oscars, no real surprises there, I think the people who won it were the deserving ones based on the movies I managed to see and I did fall asleep to it, but taped it, so if I have time I will watch the parts I missed.

Weather here is rainy and warmer, so winter is going to come to end sometime, at least that is the way it feels today. . .  that about covers my life at the moment, just wanted to check in,

Wishing you all a wonderful day, peace and strength to get through. ..

Laureen
