Good morning Deb and those to come,

Today is my Sunday, and Gary has the day off for the holiday.   If today is a great as yesterday was, I'll be a lucky gal!  We shopped for new furniture for my office most of the afternoon, then went to the mall and window shopped and looked at the new Spring clothes that are coming out already. So many cute things I'll be able to wear now!  I'm so super lucky to have a guy who likes to shop and actually encourages me to! Then we went out for an early dinner, came home and sat on our new patio and drank a nice cuppa.

We have our teleconfrence with our accountant this morning.....hope it doesn't ruin my day.....lol. If we're lucky enough to get money back, we'll start landscaping the back yard. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Gee.....maybe it would be cheaper to fly Candy down here instead of hiring a landscaper?????

I'd love to fly down and be your landscaper.  I love the planning stage and the planting stage.  Not so crazy about the weeding, but that's something that'll have to done after I leave.  Shucks!  It can't be this year, though, as I seem to be lining up trips already.

Yesterday I booked a flight for Florida for a week at the end of March, to see some old friends.  I hope to connect with some of the ladies from the OFF board who might live in the area, but so far no responses to my post.  Then the end of May I'll be driving down to Tennessee with my niece, to visit my kids and my other niece.  That trip will be about 10 days.  Then I have plans to head to see my step-daughter and some friends out west for about a week in August.  In between all that, my garden will be calling.  Well, the weeds at least...

Someone at Southwest Airlines is sending their kid to college on my dime......

After our 55+ degree weather last week, all the snow had melted and I actually got the car washed.  This morning I woke to 22 degrees and 4 inches of snow on the ground.  Gonna stay home today and put the urethane on the doors I had installed in January.  Of 2009.  I just have to be in the mood to do that stuff, and I haven't been.  For over a year...

Other than that,no plans.  Just more of the same sitting around waiting for the foot to heal and the snow to melt.

Everyone have a good holiday and enjoy your short work week.

We already killed off all of the grass in the backyard, so we have a clean slate to start with. Might have bitten off more than we can chew!

Repeat after me....mulch.....Mulch.....MULCH!!!!!!

Drive around the area and look at nice yards and talk to people when you can, to get an idea of what grows there and is easy to maintain.  Plan the general idea of what you want, buy a few plants at a time and mulch the snot out of the areas between the plants.  The mulch will help keep the weeds down and add to the soil, and then every season put in some more plants.  I never get overwhelmed unless I buy a whole lot of plants at one time and then have time to do nothing but dig holes
instead of enjoying the process and what I've got.

In fact at this point I have so many perennials that need to be split that I may never have to buy a new plant again.

But I will.....

I guess coming from So Cal where you put a plant in the ground and it stays there is stuck in my head. I don't like the idea of annuals, they're pretty, but why spend money on a plant that's going to die and get ripped out in a few months???  Just don't get it.
We have a guy who does our front yard who is going to help with the process. He only charges $15 an hour and knows his stuff. He's a good old boy who likes to "make do", so I'll have to watch out for that. I don't want any monkey rigged stuff!

Susan,

I found a guy here that does landscaping. since it's what I have to do for 'work' I had a pretty good idea of what it would cost me.  I just got quotes for the whole thing and went from there. I don't have 'gardens'.. but I did get trees and bushes taken down, flower beds put in and mulched and bushes planted... and some flowers.. this year the yard gets tilled and grass put in the backyard. I'm going to sod in st augustine.  Can't keep the weeds out of the bermuda.

Just maybe... I'll have a decent backyard this year.

I am afraid to pay hourly.

Happy Monday OFF family...

Whew drive in for me today...LOL...I made my hubby drive me in. Ice and snow storm in Michigan. Lots of people lost power, trees are hitting the power lines. Ugh!!!! I'm still shaking from the drive in. Hubby going back home to snow plow then do his daughter's drives. It's really beautiful outside but it can be very dangerous for people not paying attention to trees that could come down at anytime.

Had a great weekend, got to babysit Holly Friday and Saturday. I'm bonded with my beautiful new grandchild. Daddy kept thanking me and I just told Russ that is what grandma's are for.

I'll be busy here at work today, lots of my volunteer's called in due to the weather and I'm glad, I don't need them falling or getting into a car accident.

So everyone stay safe today. Hubby and I sang Sunday at church, we sang On Eagle's Wings. It went very well, hubby got nervous, but he did well. I'm totally relaxed singing at church, this is something new for him, I'm smiling all while I'm singing and looking at the congregation, while hubby is looking at the music. I just told him you are praying while you sing, it's not entertainment, it's prayer put to music. Hugs to all....Debbie

Good Morning Off
A cold snowy morning here in Michigan.   We have two cats that just demand to be let out in the am. I opened the door  they took a flying leap and landed in 2 ft of snow!   What surprised looks on their furry little faces!    Good thing they are black kitties  I can keep track of them!
Hubby took a tumble on the way to the car Thurs morning so has been off work.   And hes driving me loco!!!  If you hear I have made a visit to the local loony bin you can blame my hubby!    Hes a great guy!  but he doesn't do sick/injured very well!     Don't worry I cant shoot him today.
Its my 30Th anniversary!   30 mostly very good years.   I think I will keep him around another 30  then see if  I want to make it permanent!!!
Prayers going up for all the friends here
Its good to see several new ones here
Have a great snowy Monday everyone!
