WHAT'S NEW SATURDAY?
74 degrees today ... I'm loving La. winters right now. Today is Mardi Gras in Monroe, but I have to work. I wanted to go to the pet parade in West Monroe, but my body just isn't up to it. I have to be at work at 3 p.m., the parade is 1:30 and I'm still in my jammies. My back and head are hurtin' ... I've been in a lot of pain lately and thinking more and more about disability again. The past couple of days, I've not slept well at all because of all the pain. And since my insurer doesn't pay much at all, I'd be better off on disability. I know others of you have it much harder ... Bev especially ... I don't have cancer, just back and knee pain ... but as much as I would like to work, it takes everything out of me just to get up in the morning ... it depresses me. I had weight loss surgery 6 1/2 years ago to be able to move better, and it hasn't happened. The pain has just gotten worse. Aging really sucks.
My friend Mary Kay and I had a nice day yesterday. We had lunch out at a barbecue place (some place new I wanted to try) and it was very good and inexpensive. Then we walked around Antique Alley in West Monroe for awhile ... Mary Kay took out her little Havanese dog, Sadie, who was the belle of the ball, so to speak ... Sadie was welcome in all the shops and everyone was drawn to her. She's kinda shy, though ... she wasn't abused before, but neglected (even though she's a purebred dog), so she clings to Mary Kay. We only did a full block before both of us were in pain ... Mary has heart problems too (back and knee as well). So we got done there and went back to my apartment (after doing a little grocery shopping) and vegged out before dinner. Then we went to this really good Mexican restaurant ... I had fajitas that will feed me for three more days, I believe ... shrimp, steak and chicken ... the shrimp came on a skewer that stood upright. I had two of the tortillas and that was plenty, but omg, it was so good.
After Mary left, I watched "Red" ... very funny movie ... old spies being chased by the young guys (Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich). The young guy was Karl Urban, who is really yummy. Very enjoyable movie. I was tired, but do you think I could sleep? No.
Ah, well ... I've had four days off and now back to work for three. Have a good day. Happy Mardi Gras.
Eileen, I am so sorry you are in such pain. I think you should apply for SSI Disability. I know many people say you should hire a lawyer to help you through the process. When my DH applied we did it ourselves. They send you to a million and a half doctors to get stuff documented, but it is worth it! My Sis did hers on her own, too. The worst part is you have no health coverage while you are going through the whole process. Unless you have something other than your work. My DH had his Navy health plan. Not great, but better than nothing.
We really enjoyed Red, too. I like all those 'old' actors. I'm sure they are all younger than me!
I finally finished the white afghan my granddaughter requested. That is 4 I have completed. 2 for her, and 2 for her cousin. I'm gonna take a crochet break, I think. I have some sewing that should be finished - Halloween costumes. But I have been getting inquiries from folks who found me on Ancestry.com and they want info on my paternal ancestors. I haven't worked with my genealogy stuff in about 10 years. Other than keeping our immediate branch data base up to date. So I may let that consume me for a few weeks.
I gotta go and do some of my at home PT stuff. It is getting easier the more I do, of course.
Have a fantabulous day.
Hugs to everyone,
Sandy
