Good Morning! It's Friday!

Good Morning, All

I've turned the corner!  I asked the foot surgeon on Wednesday if there was anything I could do to screw up the surgery and he said that other than something really stupid like rock climbing or jumping on a trampoline (like eithor of THOSE things are gonna happen!), I was good to increase my activity level.  No ace wrap, no cane, and I can DRIVE!!!!

So...

Yesterday was almost 60 degrees, snow is almost melted, and it looked suspiciously like Spring.  (I know better, this IS western NY...), so I went out the the garage and got a head start on organizing it, since I had new shelves put up just before my surgery.  My 2-1/2 car garage is FULL of garden stuff, plus all the usual house stuff that I keep out there.  I spent 2 hours, happy as a clam, and made good headway, and no foot problems.  Still have some time to spend out there, but I feel like the winter may actually be winding down.

Over three feet of snow on the ground 4 days ago.  Now all gone, and I'm itching to get out into the gardens.  Guess I'll wait, though, supposed to freeze and snow again, starting this coming week.

I'll start my volunteering slowly again, starting next week.  Over a month earlier than I expected.  I guess it was good that I followed the doc's instructions.  Now I just have to learn to walk normally again, after over 2 years of not using my foor properly.  Should have had the surgery a long time ago, but the thought of being laid up for three months was daunting.              5 weeks is so much more manageable.

I've been reading the board a lot more since I've been housebound.  My thoughts are with those of you having a hard time, hoping your lives settle down and you start to enjoy them more.  For those having medical issues, I wish you all the best results.  Bev, you have no idea how  I admire your attitude and bravery.

To all the newbies...  Hang on, it's a wild ride.  WLS is  not magic, but it's a great tool, and you have to learn to use it.  As is usual with so many of us, maintenance is the challenge.  So learn the life while it's easy, 'cause you're gonna need the skills later.

OK.  Done going on and on.  Gonna take a shower and head outside and slog through the mud and look at the gardens and start making plans for Spring.  Everyone have a good weekend.

Morning OFF family!!

Well DAM!!! My hip is killing me!! Not sure if its from climbing the stairs to do the laundry yesterday or if its the change in the weather or still from the slip on the ice!! Maybe a combination of all!!! Couldn't sleep much at all and I am not in a good mood! Working today 1230-9 and so not looking forward to that at all!!!

Had a break light out on drivers side of my car and took it to Auto Zone for a new one. Asked if they could install it for me. Sure!! No problem!! Well the guy had a problem...couldn't get it apart to get the bulb in. Said it was to cold to get it apart and to bring it back when it warmed up. OK I took it back Wednesday afternoon. Same guy same problem! Told him I would take it to another place and have it done but thanks for trying! Got my car to the mechanic next to where Rick worked. He said to me...did you know that you have a chunk out of the casing in the brake light? Um NO! So he fixed my brake light for me and I went back to Auto Zone and told the guy thanks for breaking my casing! He told me to come back after 630 and speak to the manager. I did. He ordered me a new one and it should be in either this saturday or tuesday and they will put it in for me. I was upset over this but gezzz I just made my 6th payment on the car!!! Nice that they are replacing it for me.

Well better get ready for work. Need to go pick up my check and get to the bank first. Bandit has to go out potty also.

Have a good day!!

Judy,

So sorry to hear about your hip!  I hope you feel better soon.

As to the car debacle--poor customer service is everywhere.  I just don't understand it.  I'm glad the manager is going to try and make it right.  The thing that ticks me off the most is being made to wait while a clerk (or receptionist or bank teller) talks on their CELL PHONE leaving me--THE CUSTOMER--standing there waiting!  Unreal!

Thanks Vickie! Ya know what really gets me? He didn't even bother to let me know he accidently broke a piece out of that casing!! That is what really pissed me off!!

Yeah me too on the cell phones!!! I get people wanting me to wait on them and THEY are on their phones and I have to wait til they are done chatting and here I have a line of people waiting for me to take their orders!!!  IDIOTS!!!

Hip and back are both screaming tonight after working all day! Pain med didn't even touch it at all!!! I want my darvocet back!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR

Glad that your husband is safe and sound!!! :-)

Good morning, everyone!

Let me just start off by saying that I heard good news from my husband late last night!  He was in Amsterdam, waiting to catch his flight to Houston today.  He got out of Bahrain with no problems yesterday--I guess the rioting had settled down some.  He said there were much fewer police and military out yesterday, especially at the airport.  I am so thankful he is out of there for now!  (I wish he could retire soon!)

I didn't do so hot with my diet yesterday.  I tried, really I did.  I never did break down and eat CARBS--horrors!  (Carbs were what I really wanted, too.)  But I did eat a lot more calories than I have been having.  I did pretty well until I watched the evening news.  Then I saw the riots and things in Bahrain and I just got overwhelmed with worry.  So, I blew it a little.  And I knocked myself out of ketosis, dammit.  But I'm only human.  Climb back on the wagon today.
(Funny how fear and worry for one's spouse is so much harder to take than fear and worry for oneself.  I went through that whole "what is the spot on my lung" thing last week without flinching, but let me think my husband might be in trouble, and I just caved.)

For all those having problems today, I'm listening to your fears and praying for you.

Hey Vickie,

Glad to hear your husband made it out, when I was hearing the news last night, I was thinking about you and him and hoping. . .

Take care, Laureen
