OT: Afghans I've made
Mag,
My MIL kept a box of hankies with tatted edges from her family. They must have been made in the early 1900s. It's like a cross between crocheting and lace making. Very pretty. Those are so small and take a long time. My Mom makes the crocheted doilies with cotton thread. I don't have the patience to do that. She has made me some nice pieces though. I have a tabletopper. It's made to go on those round, glass topped tables bought in Walmart to be a small side table. I put down a tablecloth, then the crocheted tabletopper and then the piece of glass. I treasure it. She also made a Coffee Table Doily and another one for Christmas.
Hugs,
Bev

Hi Bev,
Let me chime in here, that your afgans are indeed beautiful. . . my Mom was a knitter, made beautiful things and I used to love to chrochet, not quite as talented as you, but I enjoy it and think I will pick it back up.

This pattern was free off of the internet. Here is the link:

Everyone in my family is tall so I made the length longer with a beginning chain of 201 instead of 151. This is not a "light" afghan. My husband and son are 6'3" tall. They are picky about their afghans, they don't like their toes to be able to stick through holes in the afghan. LOL. I used the Caron One Pound skeins. 3 of the main color (wider stripe) and 2 of the secondary color (thinner stripe). So it weighs over 4 lbs. when you are done. I get the yarn from JoAnn's when it is on sale for $5.99. Regularly, the price in $7.99. So on sale the afghan will cost about $30 to make.
Happy crocheting. I'd love to see what you create if you make one.
Hugs,
Bev
