Hello, newbie here!
Just a little bit about me: I've been married to my DH for almost 30 years. Our anniversary is in May. We have two grown daughters, and a precious new little grandson. Our little Benny is the main reason I've kicked my butt into gear and decided to have WLS. I want to be around for all those hugs and kisses for a long, long time.
Oh, and I'm also "mom" to my two little rat terriers, Patty Kate and Lulu. They are my babies and my constant companions.
Looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

Welcome, Vickie!
I am up in Canada and I remember the nervous excitement and WLS was the BEST thing that Ive ever done for myself! I was 58 when I had my surgery. My life has gotten so crazy busy and tho I do not always post, I still have to check in and see how everyone os doing...welcome to OFF!
And NEVER be afraid to ask what MAY seen to you to be a silly question..we have ALL been there! *s*

I'm Debbie, remarried a little over 2 years, love my hubby to pieces, have 3 dogs and 1 cat and 5 outside barn cats that I have rescued. They are pretty tame.
I also have 4 grandchildren and just found out I'm gonna be grandma again in October. All 3 of my stepdaughter live close by and I love being a special friend to my adult step girls. My family is complete.
Keep posting, we are a great support group here. No bashing, just acceptance and Feb. 22nd will be here before you know it. This is a very exciting time for you. Hugs Debbie
I think you will be happy with your choice for WLS and we will be here to cheer you on and help you through the rough spots.
P.S. Many of us have "fur babies" , as well as the grandkids (lol). . .

Thank you everyone! I'm glad to be here!
Right now I'm doing the 2 week pre-op diet of liquid protein shakes. I'm not doing so well with the shakes, but I'm doing well with the diet. Down 6 pounds in less than a week and I'm in ketosis, so all is good there. I don't like the protein shakes too much. They're too sweet and leave an awful after taste. But I'm managing.
This is actually my second WLS. I had a gastric banding done in 1993 by Dr. Marcel Molina in Houston. Don't know if you've heard of Molina bands, but they were quite a breakthrough in WLS. A forerunner of the lap band. I lost 140 pounds and it worked great for about 5 years. Then the weight slowly began to come back on and nothing I did stopped it. I didn't know what was going on.
Come to find out that 90% of Molina bands failed. And now, 18 years later, I'm back at the same weight I was when I had the first surgery. It took me awhile to make up my mind to do WLS again. But with the birth of our grandson, I realized that I have to do this. I have to get healthy again. So--here I am.
I have some concerns about losing weight this time around. I'm so much older and my body is different now. That's why I'm so happy to have found this group! Thanks for your warm welcome and the encouragement! I'll be checking in here daily.
