Today's Reflection
I wanted to let you all know that I share these with you because, as I expressed with Judy and Debbie yesterday, I truly believe, if you read them with an open mind and heart, you might be surprised at what wisdom is to be had from them.
Also, I want to thank those of you who are kind enough to take the time to share your thoughts with me (us) on the various posts and while I may not always respond, I am thrilled by your acceptance and enjoyment of something that I find can alter my thought process. . .
In real love you want the other person's good. In romantic love, you want the other person.
--Margaret Anderson
The expression of real love is so easy between grandparents and children - and between good friends it passes effortlessly. But why is it so hard to share real love with a spouse or lover? Why, instead, do we want to possess them? And from them, we dream of selfless devotion. Yet neither possession nor devotion guarantees the security we long for.
Real love is not selfish; it frees both the giver and the receiver. Knowing we're loved sustains our hearts and diminishes our difficulties. It doesn't bind us, yet paradoxically it bonds our hearts. These encouragements to grow, to change, to dare to depart if it's for our own good, are expressions of real love. Real love is never ownership, only stewardship of this moment's experiences.
Let's be gentle with one another, and love fully with trust, as a child loves a grandmother.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Oh Laureen, does that last line bring back memories of my grandma.
I loved her sooooooooo much and my mom couldn't understand why I wanted to be around grandma and spend the weekends of my grandparents farm. Heck I do! She loved me for me, never said one word about me being overweight. Ever. Grandma knew what I needed. Always.
I'm smiling right now just typing this!
Again Laureen you post my life and I totally get you! Now I think my Grandma is smiling down on me because I'm thinking of her. I call these moments instead of Pennies from Heaven, postings on cyberspace from heaven! Hugs Debbie

Dear Laureen,
Thanks for sharing these wonderful and thoughtful words. I recently read something I liked that I am happy to pass on:
"Love is the pleasure of focusing on the virtues of another."
I also like, "Never trade what you want most for what you want at the moment." A good one for compulsive, impulsive me.
Have a wonderful and spiritual day today. Tomorrow's Friday!
All the best,
Judy G.
