Reintroduce myself !
Hi all !
I posted perhaps almost a year ago asking about folk's in their 50's having wls. Well, it's taken almost a year; but I finally am the owner of a little sleeve ! I had my surgery 1/24/11 and am doing the recovery thing. After consulting with my ortho doc ( I need a knee replacement) and rhumatologist, we all decided that the sleeve, was the best choice, due to being able to take NSAIDs when I'm healed up.
I have been very lucky in that I have had no nausea, past the first day or two; and am tolerating mushies now. My biggest problem is that I have a major burning, stabbing pain in my left side that inhibits movement --- you know, like sitting down, standing up, bending over.... Surgeon's nurse said "yes" that 's where most of the insturments came together, and it's cut muscle and tissue, and it takes time. GRRRRR
So I have another 2 weeks off of work, and hope to be feeling fit as a fiddle by then.
Shout out to those in Cal. --

Congrats on your surgery! I took 3 weeks off after surgery...take advantage of the time off and give yourself time to heal. Each day should get better...some of us just take longer to heal than others.
Welcome to the Boards...the more the better! ;-)

BriarRose,
Congrats on your sleeve and yes, the leftsided pain can take up to six weeks to get past, I had it and so did many of my fellows who I grew up with in WLS land. . .
Best wishes as you continue the road towards better health.

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Hmmmm... most people ask me if we still have the water slides. Ice races? Hmmmm... we do have a place called DelOsso Farms that has a slide with manufactured snow during the Christmas season. But that is a new attraction. Our water slides are gone, but there is a big company trying to get a new water park placed here soon.
