What's New- Tuesday

Good Morning to all of my OFF sisters!
I'm up late- not sleepy yet. Today was an eventful day. After work I took my Mom to my doctor. I'm switching her care to him so that I can keep an eye on what her healthcare needs are. She is 84- has memory issues and is almost deaf. She gets confused and her decisions aren't always on target. So I take her and he orders all these tests. She's resisting, but I told her to just do what he says. I'll take her and listen and take notes. She wants to stick her head in the sand and not know what is happening to her body. She is having conniption fits over having a mammagram. It's been ten years since she had one. Geez.... I have one every 6 months!
Tomorrow I am going to school late. I have two meetings after school and my maximum work day is 7.5 hours. So I can sleep in a bit.
I have my picture in the newspaper today. The reporter came to our Super Bowl party last night and took a picture of my husband and I. The party was fun. I barely watched the game but I was a social butterfly.
Time for bed now... talk soon!

Morning Julia, Those yet to come. . .

Julia, I guess if we get to age 84, we might have conniption fits as well (lol), so often people get cranky as they age, I think it's that often enough the mind does not accept where the body has taken them. . .  nice of you to do the things you can to help Mom, I am always happy when I read the stories of those whose parents are still with us, as I sure still miss mine.

I can't imgaine you being social at all (lol). . .

Well I am up early because I went to bed at 7:30, though I tried to stay awake, I could not and went to sleep about an hour later, so I woke up at 4:15.  I think the flu I had is still present, now in the form of coldlike symptoms and that probably accounts for why I was so tired last night, first day back to work was busy, but I made it through and tonight I will see Tony, for what I'm calling his "guilt" visit, because we did not see one another this past weekend for a variety of reasons.  It's not really "guilt" but our joke. . . so tonight we are going to the Longhorn Steakhouse, which just opened near my home.  It's rainy here and supposed to get real cold again, going down to 16 tonight and strong winds later today, oh well, the long winter is moving towards spring, let's hope the ground hog had it right, I look forward to taking Roxie on her walks again.

Well I guess that's about all from me, wishing everyone the best day possible, peace and strength to face the more challenging aspects of living.

Hugs, Laureen

Hi Julia & to all my OFF friends,
Julia, so great to hear that you're taking such good care of your Mom.   My Mom's Gyn said it's no longer necessary to have a mammogram after 90, but her internist insists she continue to get one each year.    I hope you enjoy these time with your Mom.   I think it becomes a bit easier once they realize they really do need your help.

I've been to sleep for a couple of hours & now I'm up again.  This seems to be my pattern.  I've been working on income tax preparation - for me & DH, for my Mom and for my Daughter & her DH.    What a job!    Ours is simple these days, and Mom's isn't too bad, but my Daughters is alot of work.   It's good to know that I still can pay attention to detail & push to the finish on such a project.

We went to LA & Hollywood & played tourist yesterday - had a great time!  Isn't it funny how you often don't visit the attractions that are so close to home?

Picture of me with my SIL on Angel's Flight trolly in LA.  Wishing everyone a great Tuesday.   Gentle hugs, prayers & such for those in need.

Jan, Your so cute, flying high in the sky. We've never been to Angels Flight, saw a program on the travel channel , the cars had just been refurbished.

We received the last form for Taxes, shouldn't take to long for us either.

Later dear Sistah, Peg

Good mornin', ya'll.
Yes, all of you out there with parents still alive are very lucky. Especially if you live close enough to keep a close eye on them!
Yesterday I got my staples out. They took an x- ray of my hip, and said it looked very good. He gave me the paperwork to get PT going at the same place I went to for my shoulders. So, on my way home, I decided to stop by there, turn in the paperwork and get scheduled to begin. The receptionist said they just had a cancellation, did I want to see Michelle right then? Sure, figuring it would just be the first evaluation visit where they check ROM, etc. Well they did the evaluation and then an hour of PT. When I went in, I had left my wallet and phone in the car, so didn't call my DH. I had many messages from him and our DIL wondering where I was. It was pouring rain and I had been going to stop at WM, so they all thought the worst! Before cell phones, when our daughter would be late, she always told us not to worry, if she had been in an accident the authorities would inform us!! That didn't fly when I tried it on my DH. I have 4 ICE numbers in my phone, so someone WOULD have informed someone. I'll be sure to call the DH next time!!
Everyone have a fantabulous day.

Julia, I'm with Laureen, can't imagine you as a social butterfly   WTH????  Your mom is lucky to have you, even if she doesn't think so right now, in her heart she knows she needs you.  I miss my mom every day and wish I would have had a chance to help her the way you and Jan take care of your moms.

Yesterday I went to the plastic doc to get the drain put into my arm. It's working alright....I had to change the dressing three times before bed. Hopefully this will be short lived and I'll be able to get it out on Thursday or Friday. Before the doctor's appointment I actually went to the gym!!!!  Yes, boys and girls, the sky didn't open up and swallow me, the earth didn't spew lava.....I did 45 min on the treadmill, about 2 miles. I can do this. Yep...I can and will!

The Big Snow of 2011 is due to start sometime late tonight. Some reports of up to 10 inches!  This is a huge deal here in AR as we never get this kind of weather. I've already moved my Wed clients around to today and Friday, have plenty of milk, bread, eggs and TP in the house. Plan to sit and work on a baby blanket that needs to be done in about 2 weeks. EEEEKKKKK

That's it for me. Hope you all have a great day. Stay safe and warm out there!

Get all Cozy, our Arkansas Snow Angel.

Congrat's on the treadmill caper. Sounds as if you heal really fast.

I think I've asked you this question before, but forgot your answer . Where did you get your foundation /spandex. I'm looking for something that will help the hanging belly stuff. I get sores under the flap from time to time. Gross, I KNOW, surgery to remove the extra skin doesn't  look like it will happen .I'm really , almost okay with that, just need to do something about the hangy stuff before summer hits again.

Glad to hear no spewing happened , you are wonder woman.

I actually wear the Assets brand and I get them at target. They are made by the same company, just their less expensive branding. Lobos also has their brand that are less pricey than Spanx. I couldn't affor to buy three pairs of Spanx, but could afford the Assests brand

Good morning Off
Julia your mom does appreciate your care!  She might not be able to tell you that  but I am sure she does.  My mom used to fuss when I made the 3 hr drive every week to see her  but held on tight when I had to say good by.   She fussed at all of us when we took in her favorite homemade food but she sure ate it up!  Treasure the time with your mom,   I still miss my mom so much.
I'm awake early again   it seems I cant sleep past 5;30.   My friend is  still asleep,  that means shes not in pain  so its good.   Heading home later this am  from the hotel.   Angel Mary  probably needs a break from my small charges!
Prayers going up from my house to all of yours
