Well, you just have to wait it out usually. You might want to wait a little longer to eat things like this, or try eating even slower, even though you thought you were slow enough, the pouch rules, as you found out.
Now you know the feeling and how awfulmyou felt you'll be much more careful. It's one of those "beneficial" side effects. It forces you to take small bites and eat slowly.
This is the feeling that I get if I eat spaghetti, even after 4 1/2 yrs.

Lilee,Didn't you just have surgery 4 weeks ago? At four weeks I was eating about an ounce and a half of cottage cheese or scrambled eggs.
Four slices of deli meat is probably more than I put on a sandwich now, 6 years out.
Slow down, Girlie, this is a long road.

Yup! Lesson one learned. My lesson was about 3 Wheatsworth crackers with peanut butter at about 3 weeks post op. I kind of took my doctor's "a couple of crackers soaked in your soup" a bit further than he intended. And. . . like you I thought I was dieing and that I had totally messed up the whole healing process. Live and learn and REMEMBER!!! Hang in there; it gets better.

My first adventure into the world of foamies/stuck food was with turkey deli meat too... finally after an hour or so of the foamies I threw up and found some relief.
Then I found out about papaya enzymes. They're all natural, chewable and availabe in just about any store's vitamin aisle. They help with the foamies, stuck food, that 'eeewww I ate too much' feeling and a just plain grouchy pouchy.... I never leave home without them!!
