Hey it's Saturday! what's new with you?
Haven't gone to bed yet. Got up late this morning and stayed around the house until I went in to do some paperwork at work. Then to the chiropractor, Fabricland (fabric store to get fleece for the dog beds I'm making), to my local Starbucks-like place for a decaf, skinny, cap. with a half shot of sugar-free white chocolate - you needed to know that - then to order French doors for my very old house that used to have swinging French (pivoted at the top) doors in the entryway to the dining room, living room and kitchen. Tomorrow, I'm having my hair cut and picking up my new, red $750.00 glasses. My lenses are expensive - the frames aren't too bad, but I get taken on the lenses due to my vanity in not wanting thick lenses or bifocals that are visible to other people.
Then it's back home to start to prepare for next week's classes and maybe a movie sometime Saturday night or Sunday.
On Monday, I'm going to see an Italian movie
called Mid- August Lunch, which is about a 50ish man who ends up looking after several elderly women during an Italian holiday. The New York Times says that the movie "glows". I'm really looking forward to it.
So that's my weekend - what's up with you?
Margaret

Well Good Saturday Morn to you too and all of OFF land!
Just let the dogs out fed them and sitting down for the morning chai.
Rough week at the hospital I worked at for 36 years, two physicians passed, not very old either, a long time employee suffered a massive brain hemmorhage and is in hospice, and with the merger some new assignments for employees mean leaving the hospital and going elsewhere.
Today I will be working on some curtains or knitting or reading or just doing something! Tomorrow I plan on going to church, then to a poker/super bowl party at a friend from works house. Her husband makes chili, I'm going to take some cornbread and everyone else brings something too. I don't play poker much, nor do I really care too much about the super bowl, but I will go just to get out and visit. That's my plans!

Good mornin', ya'll.
It's a rainy, mushy, ugly, cold morning. It's been raining for 2 days, so our back yard has about 2 inches of standing water.
Yesterday was the day to get all of RX's filled. Once a year we get new ones written and we HAVE to take those to Lejuene to be filled. After that we can get refills at the air station. We dropped the RX's and went to the commissary. I used the electric cart. Then back to get RX's. My poor DH had to do the schlepping through the rain and puddles to drop off and pick up the meds. By the time we were ready to go home, the entire base was getting off work. It took us over an hour to get back home (usually a 15 min drive). As we sat in traffic we both decided the WORST traffic here is better than the BEST traffic in Portland! Getting in and out of the car just wore me out and I was so glad I had pain meds waiting at home!
My aunt and uncle will be here about 11ish. I have a yummy
sounding chicken meal in the crock pot. I've never tried this recipe
before. I'll just do crescent rolls and a salad with it. I have a tres leche cake in the fridge. Still not up to doing much.
My leg is feeling some better today. Maybe I did have an infection that is being helped by the antibiotics. I sure hope so, because I'm so ready to get back to PT, and healing!! There are about a million things I would do around here to get ready for company, but can't because of the pain and restricted mobility. Of course, my DH doesn't agree with what I think needs to get done, so it won't get
done!! Grrrr!
Everyone have a fantabulous day! Stay dry, warm and safe.

Good morning Margaret and my OFFer family,
I know those of you who live in areas of heavy snow will think I'm a cry baby, but as much as I love the snow, I can't get to work and this is killing me! After being off work for 3 weeks for surgery, now the weather is either keeping me in, or the clients away. When I called people yesterday most of them said they were getting ready to call me to cancel. Of course, I still have to pay my space rent, so this is getting serious!
At least I made the most of my time yesterday. I think I'm just about finished with my taxes, paid some bills, cooked a batch of applesauce and made Manhattan clam chowder for dinner-----YUMMMM. When the roads clear enough this afternoon I must, must get out and buy my son's birthday gifts for tomorrow. How did he get to be 27 when I'm only 35???? I just don't know.
Well, I could ramble on some more, but won't bore you with it...lol Time to go see if anyone is eating. You all take care!

Good Morning Margaret, OFF'rs,
Sounds like you've got quite a plan in place, you will have to post a picture of you in your new glasses, here's a little story about me and my glasses, at 40 I decided the one thing I could change in a hurry was the fact that I wore glasses and switched to contacts, fast forward to age 47 and the fact that my sight had changed, I wound up needing to wear glasses to be able to work on my computer or to read to offset my contacts, at that point I decided if I had to wear glasses, I might as well give up the contacts. I do not need reading glasses, but the varying distance between long distance and computer viewing was such that I have two pairs of glasses, why, because I don't want to wear bifocals. . . vanity is expensive. . . lol thanks for reminding me to make an appointment to get my eyes checked.
So, I'm feeling a little better, but still not 100%, however, I did go to the movies and wound of seeing The Black Swan, what a wonderful performance, even though a dark story. Going to try to see the other movies that are up for awards, maybe I will go today and tomorrow to see the others. Otherwise, right now I have some smoked turkey wings simmering and the makings of split pea soup waiting on those wings. I have my monthly support group today, but otherwise I am just takng it easy.
Hope you all have a good day, wishing you peace and strength to get through the challenges that you face today.

Hi Laureen,
I've seen 9/10 of the movies nominated for best picture... "Winter's Bone" is the last one for me to see and it will be on the way from Netflix as soon as it's available. My favorites so far are (in order) King's Speech, The Fighter, Tie for third- Black Swan, 127 Hours, True Grit, and The Kids Are All Right, the rest on down the line... I hear that "Winter's Bone" is fantastic, and I loved the book, so it may replace some at the top of my list. This is the best year for movies, in my opinion, in a lot of years. I'm glad you are healing from your viru****o Roxey!

Hi Julia,
I saw Winter's Bone on my computer through Amazon and I loved it. The girl playing the lead is absolutely wonderful. It's a book?!!! I'm getting it! I saw The King's Speech too and that was a great movie.
Those are the only 2 I've seen, we don't go to movies much.

Margaret - red glasses sound sexy! Thick lenses are uncomfortable and the visible line bifocals make me dizzy so I opt for the more expensive lenses too.
Yesterday morning our big fat Isabella
didn't look too good. Usually she races us to the bathroom for a nice combing. I sat by her in the hallway and yelled for Tom. She didn't seem to have labored breathing or be in pain, meerly lethargic. He said we should watch her for the day and wait until Saturday before rushing off to the Vet's. I didn't agree but decided to go along with his wishes.
My friend Angela came to visit and she agreed with Tom. I didn't feel comfortable but thought it was my normal propensity to overreact.
Angela and I went out for a while. My thoughts were that I should have insisted on taking her to the Vet. Upon arriving home, Tom met me at the top of the steps and said "She's gone".
Dear sweet Isabella died in her sleep at Tom's feet. Damn it!!!
Her extreeme obesity has been impossible to control. I feel certain that her heart gave out.
I am going back to bed and shut out the world. This has not been a good week.
