OT: Plenty of Fish

I think that I've read that some of the people on this board have been members of the "plenty of fish" dating site, and I would like your advice.
I just joined, and the next day, I received 8 "users who want to meet you" notices.  I don't know how to respond to these guys.  There does not seem to be any place to click to say "OK - I'm interested and would  like to meet you, too" or "not interested - thanks, anyway".  What do I do?  Do I send a message to the men that I may be interested in?  What do I do with the others who I'm not interested in?
Believe me, I am not bragging.  I know that I am just new to the site and have caught the attention of some because of my newness not my "cuteness".  I'm sure that there are  lots of women of the site who are much better looking than I am  -  but the novelty of my being new seems to have attracted some men that I would like to meet and I am interested in understanding the protocol.
Any words of wisdom for me for me with this issue?  I think that I am going to strike while the iron is hot and don't want to mess it up!!
Thanks.

Margaret,

How many of us would you like to have respond...:)  First off, when they come in and say "... would like to meet you" it's showing that you have a match of sorts.  You can send them a message and get the ball rolling.  I used to, but not anymore. I browse their profiles and then put them as a favorite if I liked them... they get a message saying "... as put you as a favorite'.

I've been on dating sites for 15 years, well before anyone thought it was 'proper'... and my son put me on it!!

I'd just browse the profiles and send a message to any you like. Get a spreadsheet so you can keep up...:)

Thanks Janet.  I was hoping that you were reading the board!  I may respond to a couple of the men who have contacted me and see what happens, and I may just indicate that I have a favourite or two.
Thanks, again.

Margaret,

I've not had a real live date in five years.  Well, not a dead one either for that matter.  I go through periods where I think I might go out again, but then I just decide I'm better off alone. I know how to ride the horse, I just don't go to the rodeo anymore.

I agree with everything Janet says including the rodeo.  I joined a little over a week ago and have been contacted by a lot of men.  None of them are serious.  The strange thing is I got a lot of out of state and out of country responses (as if we are really going to meet?)  I got one response from someone locally, but we have nothing in common.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

Hi Margaret.....I use POF and really have meet some great guys. A few I date and others we are good chat friends.
I am not looking for a lifetime commitment. Now I am moving away. ...sniff sniff...too far to travel to date!

Now I just recently changed my profile to living in Iowa. Lots of hits. I have interest in a few....chat with two.......and blocked a few too!!

Be careful....don't give out too much information too soon. Get to know them first. There are some  real creeps out there!!!

Good luck....hugs....connie d

its a crap shoot, i belong to a site called seniorpeoplemeet, com
its not free but you can join for short or long time periods

just be careful, dont give out your personal email or any other information till you feel a
comfort level with the person you are chatting with.

lots of scammers out there, but i have had some nice dates.

on the other hand, the nicest person i met was a local guy i met at the "corner" pub.  so who knows

good luck
