Hello Wednesday...still no blizzard...
Good morning Candy and everyone......
Candy....sorry you are having so much pain. Hope you feel much better soon! My BFF Pam had foot surgery a month ago. She had her stitches out Monday. Finally after a month she could take a shower. She still can't put any weight on that foot for another couple weeks at least. I am over doing everything for her....she hates having others help her.
I am taking my BIL out for a Birthday lunch today. He is the one who lost his wife about a month ago. He is having his birthday celebration with his family this weekend. I didn't like the idea of him sitting home alone on his Birthday.
I hope you all have a great day.
Prayers for so many here on OFF.
Love and hugs to all....connie d

Your friend is lucky that you're there and so willing to help her. I have to admit to a lot of frustration over nor being able to take care of everything myself. I absolutely HATE to ask for help! I have several friends and family members who have offered to help in any way they can, but that would entail giving up my self-sufficiency, and I have a hard time with that. So for the most part, other than rides to two doctor's visits, I'm managing alone. The first few days my niece was really helpful, but as soon as the doc said I could weight bear, I've done it myself. Slowly, pacing myself, and frustrated, but on my own.
The funny thing is that I'd be the first to offer help if it was needed.
Some day I'll grow up and get over this need to "do it myself". Maybe. Prolly not.
I'm sure your friend really appreciates your help.

Hi everyone, it is 20 below zero this am in Nebraska. Brrr! I am so ready for spring. I think it is too cold to snow. I cancelled the support group meeting last night. It isn't worth it risking it in this cold weather. Have a great day. Mona

Hello everyone
I am doing better than expected after my oral surgery. Not in much pain at all. In fact I think it was worse before the surgery. I took a pain pill last night. Didn't really need it but wanted to be sure I got a good night 's sleep. I think I'll be able to eat cautiously today.
Door bell rang it was the Terminix guy but BRR just opening the door sent me scurrying back to my coszy blankie. It is 27 degrees outside and nearly noon. NOT Houston norm. Even freezing days usually warm up to 40 by noon. Not today, not tomorrow, if the weather man is to be believed.
I am doing laundry, something I can do lazily. Put in a load, type. Put in a load, watch TV, ya get the picture. The most strenuous thing I'll do today is fold.
Stay warm those of you experiencing this deep freeze, which is just about all of us except our sunny california sistahs. Cali gals enjoy warmth for all of us.

Take care of you. I hope the pain stays away. It always seems like your whole head is involved when there's oral surgery.
Your day sounds like mine have been lately. It's hard to get used to, but I'm almost starting to enjoy it.
The weather ha**** Windy and sleet. On top of the several feet of snow we have on the ground, we have crusty ice. My neighbor almost lost her dog when he broke through. Gonna be a long few days. Glad I'm inside.

It's dang cold here too.... but a beautiful sunny day. It's probably 50 degrees... I'm spoiled. Our new shelter dog Roxy is doing fine at home while we are at work. Today her sister (my dauighter's dog, Sookie) is coming to visit for a couple of hours. They get along quite well, but once in a while they fight. So far we have stopped them very quickly- I'm hoping that we can train the jealousy out of them. Or whatever the flare-ups are about. They play like crazy!
I'm preparing a big group activity for my Special Day Class tomorrow. They are studying bears, so I have stations with every bear that you can name. Little stories, art projects, games, etc., etc. The students have specific goals, so I have to be creative and plan activities that are fun but also include the goals. The hour is intense- lots to do in each station, but so much fun and valuable to the students. The planning is key.
That's it for me. Working full time again is wearing me out, but I love it.
Healing thoughts to all of you that are recovering. Been there, and I am glad I am not there right now. I hear that the groundhog did not see his shadow.... good news for those of you that are digging out.

It's so nice to hear how much you love your job. It's got to give you a huge sense of satisfaction to work with your kids. You can hear it when you describe your day.
I couldn't retire fast enough. And I don't miss it a bit. Guess that's part of the difference between working with convicted felons and 10 year olds....
Have a great day.

Hi Candy and my OFF family:
Yeah, I understand all about night-time pain and inability to sleep. I have been having restless nights lately ... getting up every hour, sweating, knee pain, back pain, foot pain, headaches, you name it, every part of my body has hurt some part of the night. I did this last night, too. I was tired, went to bed, nodded off right away ... then got up a half hour later. I got up at 5:30 to go to the bathroom and couldn't get back to sleep. Finally read for awhile til 7 a.m. and went back to sleep ... I wanted to get up at 9 and run to the bank this morning but oh well ... I go before work.
I got some of the money that was taken out of my checks by garnishment back yesterday, so that's why I need to go to the bank. Seems they send it back to the paper in a paper check ... oh well, it works for me. It will help considering I'll have less money in my paycheck this week because of the one furlough day last paycheck.
Last night was a pain because the one sports guy was OCD'ing over his page ... usually, he's out covering a game, but the officials had a boycott over salary, so he was in the office. He wanted me to do something special with the main story (called a "centerpiece") ... he wanted some cutouts of these photos. So I did what he wanted and it looked nice. I put some nice white space around the package. But then when I got done, he kept bugging me ... "maybe we should do this, maybe that, maybe switch photos" ... only because he found out the deadline was later (because of the storm) ... and not from me. Oh, he drove me crazy ... if he was in the same building with me, I would have had to kill him. He's a young guy and has no knowledge of design. He can barely write a decent story.
Then, a half hour before the press start, he calls and says he has to update the story ... they've chosen a coach. Well, we sent the pages a half hour earlier, but OK, we can update the story but we have to do both pages because it's a linked story. So then he says, no, forget it, he would just do it for Thursday's paper. Usually, it wouldn't matter because the deadline would have been passed.
Anyway, back to work tonight ... two sports sections and then off for two days (furlough and one other day off). Since I have money, I may go to a movie tomorrow (for $2.50 ... big spender).
Have a good day ... stay warm ... it's 30 degrees here but not as windy as last night.
