What's New- Hello Monday!
I'm in San Francisco,,, it's almost 2:00 AM and I'm wide awake. I'm in the new to me hotel... my Japanese hotel was full so I'm trying this one- nthe Hotel Vertigo. The movie "Vertigo" was filmed here long ago... Hitch**** so that explains the name. The top floors are renovated in a very modern way... lots of white and orange and very cute. But first they put me in a non-renovated room...oh dear! I called the desk immediately and with my respectful assertive voice I requested the better room...and thankfully I got one. Otherwise I would have gone home tomorrow after my appointments. Tomorrow I will get to see my oncologist for the first time since I fell and broke my vertabrae starting that whole metqstasis fiasco. I am quite improved since then... not 100%, but functioning pretty well. Barring anything showing upn my tests tomorrow I will be able to enjoy a couple of days in a new part of the city. I have places to explore near this hotel...it's fairly close to Union Square and the financial center of town. It's also close to Chinatown. I need to try to get some more sleep now... post on my OFF friends!

I LOVE Hitch**** movies and Vertigo was one of my favorites...enjoy the hotel and your time in San Francisco. It has to be better weather there than here in NY...its cold and snowy and I've really really had enough of winter. CAN we please have summer again? SOON???
Its 5:34 am here right now. I'm up drinking my water and getting ready for school.
I spent Sat. getting snow tires for my car, since I spent Friday traveling between my schools and praying that I didn't end up in a ditch. My car skidded so much, it was as if I'd put ice skates on my tires. Come to find out the "all weather radials" the dealer put on my car are in fact nothing more than "Summer tires:"!!!!!! And I'm out here trying to drive in the snow!!!!!! Not a good mixture.
Spent yesterday cleaning and decluttering my kitchen. What a chore...but, it had to be done. I'm not finished but, when you work as many of you all do you know you do what you can on week ends and the rest will wait for another day.
Well I've really got to get my butt in gear.
Have a splendid day everyone...and its ok to be a little "OFF"

up and starting to get ready for work- not looking forward to the drive part- this old car needs to sit and warm up before i can put it in gear-and then, the tranny oil seems to be too thick/cold ....
i DO love being in michigan...i'm just not sure that i wanna tackle all of the worlds' problems today!!!!!
tomorrow is my first class so i can sleep in tomorrow!yea!
lovey slept with rox and me last nite for about 3 hours! she curls up near my pillow-actually was lying ON my arm.....not sure how this will play out!didn't want to move her last nite but tonite i will if she chooses same spot/arm!
julia-i'm in your pocket at the drs today-don't squish me! i would love to be there for real exploring with you!
marcy- i almost ended up in a ditch the other day and it was frightening...glad you got better tires!
well- i'm cold and i'm not getting gorgeous this way by sitting on here!

Can somebody please help me with my profile phoito? I do not know how to resize it..I've tried eight times and it just doesn't work out...I am NOT a techie..we artsy fartsy types just struggle at times....Here I am again..went to bed at 10 pm..struggling to stay await that long as it was...but wide awake again at 3 am...I went to visit Mother..took her soup for a week and a jar of marmalade. At supper, they brought her dinner to her..the meat was simply SLICED and I reminded them that the meat was to be minced! The lady who dishes out the food brought the binder to me to show that someone, in their infinite wisdom had crossed out MINCED and wrote REGULAR! on the sheet so I made sure that this was changed back to MINCED! Darnnit..sometimes people can be so stupid! Mom ate a whole bowl of my soup, she said it was perfect (and Mom is not one to be polite and just say that to make me happy). We got her plate, now with MINCED pork and I mixed it with her sweet potatoes. SHE ATE EVERY BITE! Of course, with her shaking hands, the minced meat falls off the fork, so with the potato, the food stays on the fork and she gets it to her mouth! Common sense to me...duh! No wonder she lost interest in eating..She chose lemon meringue pie over angel food cake with berry sauce...pushed the graham cracker crust aside (she prefers what she calls REAL pie pastry) and ate the entire filling and meringue. Then she told me that she was going to eat her two big chocolate chip cookies with her tea before bed (I'd bought them at Tim Horton's for her treat before bed)..I pointed this out to the HEAD NURSE and to the kitchen staff there and they were amazed...of course I insisted that THIS is WHY she needs to have her meat MINCED...maybe now, with MINCED meat MIXED, she will eat ALOT better. *gets off my soap box*Well, got home...minus six degrees. Derek was out wit da guys at Mandarin (chinese buffet)so I cooked a small pepper steak and baked potato for John, sat down and drifted thru a terrible old cowboy movie, had a bolw of soup to warm me up and went to bed at 9 pm..out cold til 2 am...at 3 :15 I headed downstairs and here I am. We were expecting severe low temps during the night. All of my outside furbabies (now numbering 23...sometimes 26 depending on the "hobos" who wander in now and then, then move on down the line...are snugg as bigs ina rug..the boxes that line my verandah (oh SO fashioable!) are all stuffed with clean blankets, old pillows and soft towelling and has usually at least 4-5 cats per box..they snuggle close to stay warm. Amazingly they all seem to get along just fine in such close quarters! We call it co-operation...too bad humans don't follow their example...This morning, I am headed for my swimming exercize...3 hours of jogging in the water...then to the licence bureau to replace my lost (during the rough Christmas week with two family deaths) handicap parking permit and then to Babies R Us to buy a gift for my niece's baby shower on Saturday afternoon.Maybe I can get another two hours sleep in before I leave....four hours just isn't enough, day after day.Nancy B
