Hi Jacki and my OFF family:

Getting up late today. Stayed up late watching a movie ... free trial from Netflix and my first movie came yesterday, so I stayed up and watched "Temple Grandin" ... fabulous movie. So I didn't get to bed til 4 a.m. and then I couldn't get to sleep. The phone woke me up at 11 ... my friend Rox. Well, I need to get up anyway.

I had a rough night at work last night. We are so shorthanded, some people are doing 20-25 pages a night. I did Opelousas sports, then turned around and did Monroe sports and business, then helped out with Lafayette. It's crazy. We have people out on vacation and people who have quit and they haven't filled the jobs. It's like a ghost town there. I can't imagine the number of errors getting in the paper.

Well, back to work tonight. I for one am happy to see 2010 in the rear-view mirror. It's been hellish. I was happy to see 2009 end, but this has been even worse. I hope 2011 is better. The past five years ... one has been worse than the next. I'm sick of it. I know some of you have had it even worse than me, so I guess I shouldn't complain so much. There are days I don't want to get out of bed, though, and that's even on antidepressants. Juliette keeps me going ... she makes me smile.

Well, happy new year!

Happy New Year all!

I am on my last week day of my vacation, :-( . I have done zilch, nada, nothing, but sit and watch Netflix on my computer or facebook or OH. I had such plans...but it is the New Year...so maybe I will break out of this "sitting on my butt"
phase and get back to scrapbooking, cultivating my friendships, and "doing" instead of mildewing. I need some of Karen's curiosity and love of experiences, and Laureen's optimism, and Susan's "go get em" and whatever any one else can spare and send my way. You all have gifts that inspire me...I just need to hang on to it after I turn off the computer.

I am glad you are all here, I will be here too.

Cheryl

Evening... Happy New Years Eve everyone.

I'm bringing up the rear...

I actually got invited to a party tonight and I'm going.  First though, headed for Walmart to get all the otc stuff I can get on this expiring health card... and then a tackle box for my art supplies.. and then some breath mints...:)

I'm going to share with you part of the invite for this party.. it blew me away...

There will be an OPEN BAR, with a bartender serving beer, wine, and mixed drinks.

To assist you in drinking responsibly, there are hotel rooms reserved and will have a shuttle running between the hotel and our house. Parking is sometimes an issue. We may either have valet or shuttle service to a different parking area. We'll finalize those details when we get a more firm head count.

The caterer is _____ , and they have put together a fabulous menu:

* Tropical Fruit "Waterfall" with Soft Cheeses
- Cascade of Fresh Berries, Grapes, Pineapple & Decorative Fruit
- Sun Dried Tomato Cheese Torta layered with Fresh Basil Pesto & Pine Nuts
- French Country Brie with Amaretto, Pear & Pecan Glaze
- Served with Assorted Crackers & Crisps

* Greek Red Endive Spoons topped with a tiny "Chop Salad"
of Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Cucumber and Feta Cheese

* Texana Spicy Black Eyed Pea "Caviar" Dip with Tortilla Crisps

* Hill Country Carved Meat "Sliders"
- Smoked Beef Brisket with Caramelized Red Onion & Horseradish Dijon
- Roasted Raspberry Glazed Pork Loin
- Served on Silver Dollar ****tail Rolls

* Chinese New Year Stir Fry & Asian "Tapas" Station
- Cashew Chicken Stir Fry with Jasmine Rice. Served in Miniature

By golly... a REAL party!!!

Well, off to Walmart.. back to reality.

Now THAT's MY kinda party, Janet!  In fact, one that I would enjoy hosting and making all those fun things! I used to be well known for my parties!

Today, I met my friend Feir for lunch - I ordered a shrimp ****tail and a crab cake appetizer..brought two crab cakes home.  From there, I did a private reading and then went shopping for a new bathing suit to replace my current see-thru, down-to-the-knees outfit.

Dan & Amy gave me, amopng other things, a giftr card for Penningtons(large sizes) and I already had another $25.00 off card from the store so I bought a fill bathing suit with a skirt and a two pice...shorts and top for swimming...as well as a new green cotton knit top to go with my new green, white & black full length flared skirt. Add to that, the store sale was 25% off everything in the store! woohoo...such a DEAL!

It was almost 6 pm when I got home and Derek goes in  to work at the club for 7pm so I quickly defrosted, yup, more shrimp! Added tossed salad topped with bean salad, garlic bread and had the guys finish the last of the Bailey's Cheesecake..thank goodness!  The fridge is starting to look more normal inside again!  I also brought in a turkey carcass from the chest freezer to thaw....I must make soup for Mom on Saturday.

I feel a strong craving to head up for bed but it's barely 9pm....,been fighting off fatigue alot lately. I just feel the need to sleep!

I am sending warm best wishes to all of you for a safe and happy new year!

Nancy B
