New product: Aleve Liquid Gel. . .I know it's still an anti-inflammatory. With it being liquid would it be any safer for us to take post WLS to help take care of arthritic and other pain? I keep trying to find something that I can take to help my swollen and achy joints but not increase the chance of ulcers in my pouch. Nurses out there weigh in please. What do you think?

I have taken this. I make sure I eat before I take one. Only use occasionally. Good luck.

Monica, My over all health is good and I'd like to keep it that way. Don't want to "fix" one thing only to create a new problem! I have taken a prescription med with another over the counter "stomach coater". Seems like in the winter my joints are so swollen and achy. I don't like taking any more than I have to. Since WLS I take only a thyroid and restless legs pill along with my supplements. I know Aleve helped my knees before I had the replacements so I think it will help my arthritus.

Wish I could find something to help my knees and back ... only vicodin and ice packs give me any relief. I take as many if not more drugs and supplements as before WLS ... still take reflux drugs (now 2-a-day). I was told after WLS my reflux would go away, but three days after surgery, I had heartburn and had to go back on prevacid (try taking that without swallowing pills ... I had to break open the capsules and try to swallow the little time-released dealies ... yuck!)

Karen have you tried the tylenol arthritis? I think it works almost as good as the darvocet I can't take anymore.

Karen i take 2 aleve daily but also take the (stomach coater with it ...i have taken it for years now and so far so good. i cant imagine not being able to use it ...i wouldnt be able to walk for sure....and vicodin and other narcortics that we can take dont touch the pain of arthritis for me.....besides not being habit forming. i am able to do without the pills better in the summer when im busy...

Jan, Do you take an over the counter stomach coater? If so what is it called? My insurance won't cover any of the prescription ones. I just wondered if the liquid Aleve might be better for us. . .

Karen...my Dr. told me it is okay OCCASIONALLY to take Aleve or other anti-inflammatories but not to make a habit of it.  I have osteo-arthritis in my feet and shoulders and sometimes just taking a Tylenol is like "Peeing in the Wind"....it just doesn't work.  Winter time is the worst for achy joints and muscles.  Exercise has been the best thing for the arthritis so far so as long as I am able to do that I can aleviate some of the "Owies" that come from being a Senior Citizen.  I don't feel like a Senior though and people say I don't look it...'cept for the wrinkles in my face from rapid weight loss.  Wish I was rich and could have a face lift but that isn't going to happen so I will just be happy that I feel so great other than the few aches and pain.  Things could be a heck of alot worse.
