MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Hi Jo and my OFF family:
Saw you had posted last night but decided to wait to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I got home at about 9 p.m. and had something to eat and watched "It's a Wonderful Life," a Christmas Eve tradition. Then, of course, I couldn't sleep very well. First I had the itchies ... so I took a benadryl and read for awhile; then my back and knee hurt; well, you get the idea. I kept waking up with issues.
It's dreary and 42 degrees here, and I have a headache. Back to work today at 3 p.m. I made a German chocolate cake for our potluck and will also make a crab spread. Two very easy items. The crab spread is basically cream cheese, a can of crab, you mix them together, put it back in the fridge to harden and then serve it with ****tail sauce and crackers. The cake is already made, all I have to do is frost it.
I talked with my sister-in-law Margaret on Skype this morning; I'll probably talk again when my mom is over there before I go to work.
Well, no presents for me to open. I got an Amazon gift card from my nephew-in-law Matt in our exchange, so I've ordered what I wanted. Christmas was the day I'd open the presents I'd get from Margie ... but not anymore. Makes me sad. Christmas day is always hard on me.
Well, have a good one.

It's almost noon and I'm still not dressed. Our daughter is working all day at Starbucks... she likes the extra pay and tips that come with working on Christmas Day. We are going to see "True Grit" with our friends. Then later we'll open presents... mostly our daughter will open her presents from us. And "Sookie" will open her presents too. I love the planning and celebrations that happen up until Christmas, but Christmas Day and the days after are sad... I think that is just my reaction to the losses... Christmas is so bound up with strong memories of my brother especially... he died way too early and I miss him the most I guess. I have so much to be thankful for... I just have some tears to shed each year.
Tomorrow is my family Christmas- we will be driving to Antioch to eat and open a few presents.
Sending you all my best wishes and lots of warm hugs.
Julia
