Hey everyone

I have to leave an hour early for work today, so not much time to chat. I'm wondering how soon after you get up do you eat?  I've been told that you shouldn't wait more than 60-90 minutes, but frankly, when you get up @ 4:00 (lots of times) eating just isn't on my mind. Even when I get up at a "normal" time, I still find that I'm not having breakfast until about 2 hours after my feet hit the floor. You know, my computer time, my lattes, then I have to wait 30 minutes, you know the drill.

So?  How about YOU?

Yesterday wasn't so good. I avoided the dessert bar at the restaurant last night, which is good, but I feel like I was off schedule all day. Oh well, today is another one, right?

latte

cottage cheese, applesauce, toast

pinto/cheese and 1/2 fresco taco from TB

applesauce

1/2 pb&j

big salad from the buffet at Gary's office party

more applesauce.

Here's the deal with the applesauce. I brought back dried cherries from WI and threw some into the apples when I made the applesauce this week. OMG, they're amazing! I don't know, too much of a good thing isn't so good, huh?

Good morning Susan

I was told that you should have carbs within 30 minutes of waking.  I have never been one to eat breakfast much less in 30 minutes.  I need time to adjust to being vertical.  When I am really on track and focused on doing what I should I eat within the 30 minutes.  Other times not so much.
To make that easier.  I get up, head to the kitchen and make a fuzzy navel protein drink. By the time I dissolve the powder in a little water, then add already prepared crystal lite and ice I am sorta awake.  I then grab a sandwich round walk like a zombie to my chair and in a semiconcious state eat "breakfast".  If I was going to prepare a real breakfast like eggs or maybe even toast, that would be too much effort within 30 minutes of waking.

Yesterday like most days lately have been a mixed bag.  I am dealing as best I can and feel if I can maintain until this craziness is over, I'll celebrate and move on back to doing what I should.

I am having swelling issues with my leg due to a lot of standing at rehearsals.  Last night's rehearsal was 4 hours long but we ironed out a lot of wrinkles and tonight's performance should be better for it.  I am much happier about our "readiness"  It is going to be a good concert.  tonight we'll be on our feet about 2 hours.  There is one intermission so that will help.

Hopefully by middle of next week I'll be able to get the swelling down and know exactly where my weight stands without all that fluid.

I have had my protein drink and sandwich round and I think I am mostly awake so I will get on the stick and get dressed so I can make my 10:00 appointment.

Susan,

I eat breakfast at 8 am. Wake up time varies day to day. It works best to take my supplements at least an hour before trying to eat or I'm too full.

Lunch has been helter skeleter lately which throws off the rest of the day.

Late for work - catch you later.

Good morning Susan,
I don't eat now unless I'm hungry. Personally I believe for us rules change the further out we are. We can eat bigger portions and I can now drink water like a "regular" person, no more sip, sip stuff. So now that I'm practicing mindful eating, I try to listen to my body. Fuel it with food that I want and stop eating when the food tastes fantastic...or if I hiccup or my nose get to run! Thank you Dr. V for my pouch! Not being on a diet or stressing about my food choices is a plus.

People really have to get to know their body. I mean if there blood sugar regularly drops then yes you need to eat as soon as you get up and eat a snack before bed.
So hey...if you aren't hungry when you get up and you know you can work okay without food in your belly for a few hours, really...what is going to happen to you?

Yesterday for lunch I messed up...had fried chicken in the hospital cafe, really I think it was baked but any who it wasn't done and pouchy was angry all the rest of the day! I took the not cooked piece back to the server, he gave me another piece but I ended up throwing it all away, just ate my mashed potatoes and veggies. Then last night really couldn't eat but ate some crackers just b/c I wanted something but didn't know what. Sigh....

So I wasn't hungry when I got up either but by the time I ran down to the cafe at 0900, I was starved, ready to eat the kitchen sink. Well, I had 2 pieces of WW toast with chip beef for breakfast. Now I'm drinking my water. I ate too fast b/c I was hungry and I usually put down my fork between bites...not this AM! Grandma was hungry! LOL
So for lunch hopefully they will have something good, the cafe has changed their menu. I'll probably have a salad, I need to crunch today. Isn't it amazing that I have finally learned what my body wants.
