When did you start seeing the weight loss?

I lost 16 pounds prior to my bypass surgery (11/24). It's now been 1 week, and I know I shouldn't expect to lose right after surgery, what with all the fluids and trauma and such, but when did you begin to see the weight loss?  I've dropped 3 pounds this week, which seems good to me. I go to my first follow up this Friday.

You are right on track...the weight will drop. More then likely you are just losing more inches now. Keep following your doctors advice. You will be just fine!!!

Congrats on your decision to have a healthier life!!

Good Luck....hugs....connie d

I was about 10 days post op when I started losing. Then it really started to drop. Hang in there. Sounds like you're doing great to me. I think I actually was 1 lb heavier when I first got home from the hospital!

I lost 18# in the first 2 weeks. Then it slowed a bit. Everyone is different, just follow your Docs orders!

Thanks, everyone. I get my stitches out tomorrow instead of Friday (yay) and that means I get to start drinking the protien shakes again. I'm sure that will help my body feel strong enough to start letting go of some poundage. The main thing is I feel so much better already - breathing easier, and health is ultimate goal, not a dress size.

Get yourself a measuring tape and use it every two weeks. Often the scale does not move, but the tape will get smaller and smaller. We didn't get morbidly obese overnight and it will take time and patience to become smaller and healthier. Good luck. Come here often and share it is a journey for us all.

I probably lost close to 10 lbs or more the first two weeks.  And kept a pretty steady pace after that, losing 150 lbs in six months.  I was steady at about 25-30 lbs a month.  Then plateaued quickly.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
