What's New- Monday
Good Morning Julia and friends.
It is still dark and cold this Monday morning. I expect to sub today so I'm up doing my morning thing. I like quiet time by myself to start the day. We had a nice weekend with my brother from Seattle and his "significant other" here for 2 nights. Our son was home also. We spent a lot of time just catching up and that was nice.
When the snow was coming down so heavily one day last week, I sat down and did my holiday letter and cards. Usually I am a "new years greeting" gal figuring that even tho I am late people will have more time to read my note then! Not this year; they will be shocked when my card/letter arrives before Christmas.
I did most of my shopping on line this weekend. I love the free shipping and often right to the door or to a store for easy pickup.
Julia, sending you special thoughts on the loss of your friend. I lost a classmate to cancer last week. I didn't know her well but it still throws one for a loop. Not that we can pick our way to go, but I think I'd just as soon be "surprised" while I am out there living life. Another reminder that we should enjoy each day fully isn't it?
Margo, stay strong my friend. It can just get better if you let the healing begin.
Monica, it is so good to see you here. We are all here for you. I think reaching out is so important even if "only" on line. And I really do not mean it as an "only!" It is still reaching out. Please keep doing it.
To all of you who have posted and those yet to come have a good day; make it one.
I added a bunch of veggies to the turkey noodle soup I made yesterday. Put up small containers of leftovers in the freezer for my lunch. Probably still more carbs than I need but I'll leave them alone for a couple of weeks and then take one a week or so. Those yams taste good even when they have been frozen.
The people at the school I go to today are going to be "treated" with the leftover pumpkin cheesecake that my sis in law brought. I hate to throw it out. It's not a favorite of mine so hasn't been a problem, but I want it gone.
Time for me to get my shake, pills, and a shower. You all make it a good day and I'll do the same!

Today I'm playing hooky to go to the office of vocational rehabilitation with my older daughter. She has a couple of disabilities that affects her ability to advocate for herself and stuff. I think she wants to go on to a 4 year college and I want to find out what kind of services would be available for her. Meantime, I'm working on school projects and assignments so I don't fall behind. I should be fine.
Have a great day all!

I missed the thread yesterday and had to laugh when I saw three of them!! I had a lot to catch up on!!

As for me...I am on overload with my job today. Four days off and lots to do to catch up with all my clients.
Prayers for so many in need...a few special ones as well.
Hope you all have a really nice day!!
Love and hugs to all...connie d
Julia, I'm so sorry about your friend, Barbara. I've been meaning to say something about it. I've lost two dear friends in the past few years ... one I knew would die from cancer (Gloria) and one who died suddenly (Margie). Margie's death hit me hardest. Her birthday was on Thanksgiving. I was going through a box of things her daughter sent me. Strange stuff, some I made that her daughter sent back to me, others were newspaper clippings Margie thought I would like. It brought her back to me, though.
I got some Christmas decorations out yesterday. I got my ceramic tree out but I need to get a new bulb for it ... the bulb burnt out. It's a refrigerator bulb (go figure). I also unpacked all the Hallmark snowman singing plush figures ... Juliette is freaked out by them. It's kinda funny. Anyway, it helped to pull some of this out because I cleaned up some stuff, but the place still looks like a mess. I had planned to get up early ... went to bed early enough because I was tired but then didn't sleep well. I kept getting up. Finally got up at 10:30 and I had a headache. It's gloomy out and rain is predicted, so that's probably why I have a headache. I may try to get out some other stuff if the headache goes away.
Not much else going on ... I have to work tonight. I don't like this schedule of split days off. I can't get anything done and I don't feel very rested. I work now until Friday and then I have Friday off, work Saturday, then have Sunday off. Oh well, it's a job.
Have a good day.
Julia sorry about your friend. It is always hard to loose someone we care about but is even worse during the holidays.
Monica congrats on you 26 days of sobriety. Keep posting we will support you. We are all here for you.
Busy week this week but nothing real exciting. Last few rehearsals before Christmas concerts. I have one performance on the 10th and another on the 12th. Church contata rather easy but the Chorale music is very difficult but beautiful.
Got up today and put on my jeans, a light sweater, and my cowboy boots to run errands since it has been freezing the last few nights. Got outside and WTH it was hot again. High today 80. No wonder I spend much of December sick.
My friend Angela's boyfriend visits her from Tiawan each year. He comes in November and stays until a few days before the Chinese New Year and then they both go back to Tiawan. She stays there a couple of weeks and comes back to the US. He gets bored easy and is always looking for something to do. One thing he does is put up my Christmas lights. I came home from church yesterday and there he was getting things up. It is nice to not have to do this myself. The downside is he decided it would look better if he trimmed my shrubs first. Also okay except for the azaleas. He did not know what they were or that they can only be pruned right after blooming in the spring. The shrubs will be fine but I will have no blooms this spring. At least I got here before he got to my gardenias. He also got my garage cleaned out something I have been tryinhg to get DH to do for over a year so I guess I'll forgive the azaleas.
I am spring cleaning in November. Got dresser drawers cleaned out and brought thing to the mission. Now it is on to my closet. Once that is done I will be able to breathe easier. Don't even realize the clutter stresses me out until it is way out of hand. Think I'd learn.
Happy Monday OFF family,
I'm posting late, work is just crazy today b/c I'm catching up from my long weekend off.
I did go see Burlesque on Friday with a girlfriend. I loved the movie, I was listening to all the songs and dancing and my gf was checking out the costumes as she is a polished seamstress and use to teach Home Ec.
Hubby is still in Kentucky 4 Wheeling it with his buddies. They call him "Cousin Cupcakes" or at least Jerry's family picked up on the nickname and it's sticking. LOL
So right after work I'm going to spin class and work my butt off...but but but...sigh...it's still there! LOL
Take care and I'll try to read what everyone has posted today. Hugs Debbie
