What's New- Tuesday

Oh- I totally agree with what you are all saying... I think I read the RNY stuff into some of the spine issues and just want to know how much of this is normal aging and how much is my RNY "issues". It may not be decipherable. My biggest worry is the kidney thing. When I was an 18 month old baby I was hospitalized for two weeks with a kidney "thing" and almost died. My mom does not remember details at all, just said it might cause problems when I'm pregnant, which whatever it was didn't. Now the MRI says that there is something odd about my "collecting system, ureters, and a crazy word
"pelvocaliectasis" which has something to do with the kidneys. I'm thinking I have a deformity that needs to be watched, especially now that I'm aging. I have friends (older) on dialysis and I really don't want to go there if an ounce of prevention would keep that part healthy. I have an appointment to discuss all of it with my doctor on Thursday. I'm sure he'll refer me to a kidney specialist. I've always been kind of "phobic" when it came to doctors- I thought it started when I was 18 months old and tied to the hospital bed. In those days parents could only stay during visiting hours and my Mom said that I was so traumatized by that two weeks that my personality changed. So I have to be careful about getting too "freaked out" about medical things. At least I know why I have the strong reactions.

Julia, just a note to let you know you also are in my thoughts & prayers. It just seems like you have to go through one thing after another. Please, take care of yourself & try not to let this get you down. Nan

Good Afternoon everyone!
I'm at work and doing little things here and there.  My dad and I may be going to Vermont Thursday morning and looking for a place for me to live.  He wants to go so he can see the lay of the land. (REALLY I think it's because he doesn't feel comfortable with his daughter who is 58 years old and competent and wants to be sure she is safe or what ever.....) LOL
thats it for me, more packing tonight I hope.  I think I will have a sale at my house or just donate all the stuff to Good will or something.  Not going to take a whole lot.  I think donation sounds better, (tax write off) and it's not all in that great of shape.
good luck and good day to all!

Bev I want you to know how much you are in my thoughts & Prayers. We all say stay calm, but I know how hard it must be for you. You see to have a wonderful attitude & that is part of the battle. I just wish I knew what to say to make things better. Take care, Nan

Good afternoon everyone,
My thoughts and prayers are going out to those of you with medical issues.I know how frustrating and scary it can be. We are having a lovely day here in the mountains E of San Diego. We were going to hike Stonewall Peak today but decided to go apply for our passports instead. We have friends who are helping build a church in Mexico and DH husband decided to change our winter plans and go help. We have been putting off getting the passports but I guess now is the time. We will hike the peak tomorrow and then Thursday moving to another RV park. We stay 3 weeks in each one and just move from one to the other all year long. The next one is called Pio Pico about 5 miles from Jamul for those of you in So California. It's about 8 miles from the border so we see lots of Border patrol coming through.

I have 7,000 steps so far today and will make my 12,000 before bedtime. Tomorrow will be closer to 20,000 with the long hike. In the park we just walk 1 1/2 miles or so around the loop and it gets old really fast when you have to do the same thing 3 and 4 times a day.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Sandy,   If I'm not mistaken, Pia Pico is not too far from Julian, which is a town worth seeing.   Hope you're enjoying our California weather!

Hi Jan
The resort we're in right now is on Hwy 79 about 15 miles from Julian. We drove up there a couple of weeks ago and had a slice of pie and walked up and down the town. The only problem was that it was in the fog and cold but still had a good time. I ate about 1/2 of the middle out of a no sugar added pie and it was great. DH is always happy to finish for me. I would finish but I don't care to spend the next hour dumping! I know what my limits are and it's a good thing.

Oh Julia,   careful reading between the lines with all those reports.   I feel for you with the beginnings of memory loss for your Mom.  Soup sounds good.  We have lots of sunshine, but it is crisp, so soup might be a good choice!     I've been to do my volunteer work with seniors on the computer (boy, is that a challenge), and now I'm off to my piano lesson where I will do irreperable damage to Chopin's Nocturne.   My teacher is a saint for sure!    Hope everyone is having a great day!
