I'm eating, how about you? Sunday edition

Hi gang.

I don't feel like much of a Captain of the ship, if it were a real job I'd be fired, made to walk the gangplank and dumped overboard. I have no motivation to do anything about this weight gain except complain, and to me, that doesn't make a great example for anyone. It's all I can do to come here and admit these things to you, and I can see very easily how people who are struggling stop coming onto the boards and to support groups. Embarrassment and shame, disappointment and anger. AGH!

Funny how I only seem to post the healthy (mostly) things that I eat. What kind of captain would talk about the handfuls of Fritos and eating to the point of being uncomfortable? One who is more honest with themselves than me, apparently!

Here's yesterday. All of it

latte

bagel thin w/ LF cream cheese and one slice deli ham

latte

Healthy Choice sesame chicken

handful of Fritos

black bean soup, tortilla chips (about 6) and a few sweet potato fries from Gary's plate

latte

Honey crisp apple w/ peanut butter. Was full after about half, but ate it all anyway, then was miserable for a couple of hours.

At least we're on the same boat.  When I post, I post every bite I eat.  Which is why I haven't been posting lately.  I gained back the few lbs I lost before my vacation.  Started again yesterday to try to really stick to the basics.  Helloooo  South Beach Diet, my old friend.

I made a couple pots of soup, mostly veggies, with a little meat protein.  I even stayed away from the legumes because there's carbs with them there proteins.....  I cooked up a mess of chicken tenders in the George Foreman grill.  Those are my go-to foods.  When I want to eat, I have stuff ready.  The soups add liquids to a diet sadly lacking them, and I'm trying to drink G-2 Gatorade when I want yet another cup of coffee.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I'm getting a cold and the warm liquids are hitting the spot.  Gonna make another pot of soup tomorrow, so I always have 2 kinds to choose from.

My clothes are tight, my tummy has been hurting from overeating, and all I want to do is sleep.  Cleaning out the carbs should help on all fronts.

You're not alone.

soup sounds good. I'm working late two nights and then have support group on a third. Meal planning is tough these days, but soup could do the trick.
I don't steer away from legumes because of the fiber in them. Need all of THAT that I can get. Yep, soup is on the grocery list.

Off to the gym

Two more words to help you through those long days.

Crock pot.

Or is that one word????

Either way, if you set everything up the night before and put the filled crock in the fridge overnight, you can just turn it on in the morning and ... it's like magic!  Soup is ready no matter when you get home.

I've used up all the partial bags of veggies in the freezer, even those of questionable age.  Went out and bought more, along with a nice fat chicken, for this week's meals.

Right now I have a nice warm bowl in front of me.  feels good on this nasty throat....

Oh, I'm the Queen of the crock pot!  I love to put a whole chicken in it and let it go all day. Then I have fall off the bone tender chicken for all sorts of things during the week, plus stock for soup. Those bag liners are a life saver, too!

Hope you feel better soon!

I think at the OH conference this weekend in Houston they were being told to turn into vegetarians and not do so much protein.  Not sure the rationale right now just getting 'wind' of it.  Pardon the pun.

It will be interesting to hear the rational to that, please let me know if you hear any more about it.

Tess has lost 70 lbs since becoming vegan. They were eating a lot of cheese ands dairy and that has seemed to make the difference for her. Well that and exercising four days a week.
