Happy November 1st 2010
Morning Carla, OFFr's
Enjoy your new four-legged son, Bentley is a luck dog for sure!
As for me, well when you don't see me on here, you can be pretty sure I am busily living life. . .
Well want to share one really cute and quick story here, on my way home from work on Friday, my cell phone rang, I saw it was my son's home number and picked it up and this is what I heard, "Grandmom are you coming to have dinner with us? Well I wasn't, but did you want me to? Oh yes Grandmom, I miss you". . . So on Friday night I had a very special dinner with a very special grandchild, my dear sweet Vaughn, what a cloud I was on. My DIL told me that the kids had been asking all week, is Grandmom coming over tonight. . . just goes to show how perception is very often off and something I continually have to work on, as I've always felt as though because my grandchildren see so much of my DIL's family, that they don't feel quite as close to me. . . sheesh, I still have so much work to do, which is why after 23 years of sobriety I still need AA to help me with my thinking, and the readings I share with you all.
The rest of the weekend was a flurry of activities, we had lots of trick or treaters and I did not have one piece of candy and thankfully, we ran out, so there is nothing left to tempt me today. . .
Oh well, best get back to the tasks at hand, it's Monday and a workday. . .
Wishing peace and strength to all, I will catch up on your posts from the weekend as I can today.
Hugs, Laureen

Hi Carla and my OFF family:
Congrats on your new furbaby.
It's gray and ugly here ... and I feel like crap. I had an appointment this morning but called it off. Just don't want to cough at the therapist. I bought some NyQuil last night so I didn't cough all night ... just a little bit ... but still didn't sleep all that well. I really just want to sit in my jammies all day. With my days off split, I really should do laundry, though.
It was funny with buying the NyQuil ... they asked my birthdate (I more or less got carded!). I realize there's alcohol in it, but geez ... I must look like I'm at least 21.
My pain clinic appointment was changed, too, to next week ... probably good, because my original appointment was for 8 a.m. tomorrow, much too early. My new appointment is 2 p.m. next Tuesday. They're not doing anything, just evaluating me.
Along with the cold, I think I'm having a fibro flare. Everything hurts. I guess that happens from not sleeping well.
The office folks were sure happy yesterday with the Saints winning ... I had to wait around for that game and the Series to get finished. Sorry for George that the Rangers couldn't hit more. Boy, the Giants' pitching sure has been good ... but then it has been all year.
Well, I've babbled on enough. I've been sleep deprived and not feeling good. Maybe I can get a nap today ... do you know it's a state holiday in Louisiana? All Souls Day. Interesting.
Have a good day.

Aloha Carla and all you special OFFERS!
Carla, it is good to see you. I don't post like I used to, either, but I sure follow the stories of each of your lives. Having lost 160 lbs. life just is FULL now where when I was 320 I didn't move much, and would sit in front of this computer for hours. Not any more!
I love the name Bentley........no wonder he thinks he deserves the best.....Ha.
Margo, I, too, have house servants like you.......they have to be kicked in the buh-tocks often because "they" like to shirk their duties. Like you I live alone, and it's me, myself and I!! We do the best we can, but so many things have priority over chores.....!
Debbie Jean....So sorry about your MIL, but your way of dealing with it is so wonderful, positive and loving.. When my MIL died years ago, I was pregnant with her 2nd grandchild. So many stories of new life coming in when it is time for loved ones to go home.
Karen, always love to see you in here! Also, loved your story about your mother's passing and then voila....twins!! Very life affirming.
Jan, it is so nice to see you on here, too. You were MIA for awhile, too, it seems. Your picture is just BEAUTIFUL!! Makes me smile just looking at you. You will get through this trying time with your mother.....just make sure to take care of yourself, too.
Laureen......Always love your posts. You reminded me of my father's death. He had been in AA for 16 years, and at his funeral there were at least 300 people who shared many stories of how he had helped them during their lives. Shed a lot of happy tears that day.
Eileen....so sorry you are not feeling well. And....with all the sports ending and starting, you must feel overwhelmed often. My son is a huge Giants fan (lives in Santa Cruz) and he and his group of buddies are having lots of fun parties the last week. They should NOT get too ****y.......things have a way of turning around fast! Feel better!
Last night I had no little ones come to my door, and my bag of snickers I got just in case will go to my neighbor who likes to put them in her freezer and take them out for a sweet treat now and then.
Wish I had a money tree lately. It seems like when I feel caught up, something breaks down. I've lived here 9 years, and things are getting old ... like TV crashed.....frige is limping along.....dishwasher is kapoot, etc. I try to not get bogged down in worry....waste of time......but it isn't easy.
Hope you all have a wonderful Nov. 1st. Welcome to the new people who I haven't gotten to know yet.

Some how my profile was set on private. (I changed it again to public)Rats - there are pictures of the M&M's which are cute. I am NOT a computer guru --- obviously.
Another good day at the gym. It is the best way to relax after work. There can be 2 people in the locker room and we always have lockers on top of each other.
As I was walking from the machines to the locker room, a nice man struck up a conversation. Yaking away as we walked, he went right into the locker room with me. He had a look of pure HORROR on his face when he realized where he was. Very funny.
Kisses

I'LL BE THE CABOOSE!!!
Lawsy, I'm glad we are at the end of this day. Rangers play tonight but I'm afraid Julia's team is going to win... Darn it. I'm just excited that we came this far. We never have. We'll know what we are faced with NEXT TIME.
I walked in to 39 red tasks this morning. I managed to whittle them down to 10. Made the day a little better.
The only fun thing that happened is that I've been accepted as a "mystery shopper" in the DFW area. That should be fun. My son applied for it two years ago and just now started getting assignments. I filled out the application this morning and I'm IN... they need old ladies really, really bad. Should be interesting.
Other than a trip to Costco today. Nothing else happening.
Hugs to all that need'em.
