What's New- Thursday...
I have a totally free day! Yippee!!!! I actually have nothing planned for today or this evening. That happens seldom lately.
I'm so glad that I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather yesterday. Low 60's and sunny. Without the sun, this time of year my motivation level is very low, no matter how warm it is. I went outside and finished the deadheading of most of the rest of the annuals, pulled up the monster tomato plant, and dug some bulbs for my niece to plant at her new house. Also cleaned the leaves off the deck, cleaned out the gutters on the house, and raked the leaves out of some of the flower beds, just in time. Today it's really windy, and that will send all those nasty leaves to the back of the property into the old unused grape vineyards, where I can ignore them. A wind like we've had all night will clean up the yard quite nicely.
That's the end of my outside yard work this year.
Today I'll work on a few things in the house, do some laundry, and enjoy watching the cats go crazy trying to catch the madly blowing leaves that are swirling just outside the windows. It's a riot! They never seem to get it, that the leaves are outside and they're inside. I can only imagine how crazy they'd be if they were actually outside with the leaves! I'd probably have to give them CPR...
I heard back from the Red Cross, and they'll contact me after they do my background check. I originally planned to just volunteer as a "donut dollie" at the Blood Banks, but I think I'll also make myself available for local emergency assistance. Might even try some of the disaster relief assistance if the local stuff goes well for me. Not as a nurse, just as a helper. But my nursing background sure won't hurt in some of theose situations.
All in all, life is treating me well. Keeping busy, happy, and enjoying lots of new things. What more could I ask?
Everyone have a great day.

Half the leaves in the yard ARE the neighbor's. Her trees get bare a couple of weeks before mine do. So I wait, and when the weather report calls for high wind warnings, I rake everything out of the flower beds and onto the lawn the day before, if I can. The wind usually blows from the southeast, and at 45 miles an hour, it pushes the leaves right around the end of the house, through the back yard, and into the old vineyard. Never known it to fail, in the 7 years I've been here. Meanwhile, the wind last night whistled (literally) all around the house....Not much slepp, but I didn't have to rake 1/3 acre, and I can always take a nap....
Everything works out, given enough time. And I'm having a ball today, watching the kitties go crazy.
Hope everything is working out with your Mom. You're in my thoughts, more than you know.

Today I'm going to get my nails done, then I plan to go to a lingerie shop and be fitted for some decent bras to get the girls off my waist. No more expensive than the department stores, but they actually fit you for your needs....and BOY am I needy!!!
Okay, off to eat and get ready for my day. Hope you all have a wonderful one!
