Where are the Newbies?
While it's wonderful to hear from old friends, I'm noticing that there aren't many postings lately from Pre-ops who might be new to our group. I remember 3+ years ago, when I first found OFF, it seems like there was at least 1 each day. Am I missing somthing? Isn't anyone 50 - 70 years old having weight loss surgery?
If you're new to the forum, we want to hear from you!!!! I promise, you will receibe a warm welcome if you post & introduce yourself!

Jan,
Herdy Gerdy is back with us posting from 'down under'. I thought I saw a couple more.. and some of our not-quite-so-new seem to be missing,. Might be the time of year. It's cooler and Fall is upon us.... everyone might actually be getting that new life they went after.
And, WLS has gotten so streamlined with fewer complications....

I am a relative newbie. Joined right after my surgery on 9-8-10. I am now 6 weeks out, down 30+ lbs, doing well...still experimenting with new foods (like the raw carrots last night which didn't get a warm welcome from my pouch). I am able to get protein from 4-5 meals and supplement with one 24-30 gram cappacino shake in the morning which is like heaven, not a protein shake at all.
Welcome, gmurn (don't know your real name) congrats on your surgery & your progress so far! good work getting the protein in & adding the new foods gradually. Enjoy the ride, and don't be a stranger -- we love to hear from you. BTW, sorry I didn't respond sooner, had much to take care of with my 92 year old Mom, who is in hospital after taking a bad fall thursday.

Welcome and congrats on your coming out to play, we "older" post-WLS folks get reinvigorated by the newer members to our circle. Not to mention that this is a very supportive environment which has proved instrumental in my continued success.
Wishing you well on your post-WLS journey and looking forward to getting to know you better. If you want to get to know more about us, you can click on our photos and look at our profiles, though in some cases you have be a friend of the person to have access.

Greetings & welcome to mynewpath (don't know your real name)
Pull up a chair & get comfy - this is a great group. Many of us have been members and had surgery years ago & have become friends, sometimes straying from the original purpose. still, we all remember the journey and do enjoy welcoming new members & helping whenever possible. sorry, I didn't answer sooner - been busy with Mom in hospital after a bad fall. Hugs,

Welcome, look forward to getting to know you better. . . this board is populated by many very supportive folks, some of which I can actually count among my friends and this is just a side benefit of what was a life changing surgery for me. I wish you the best as you experience this journey.

Hi, I am new here. I am not a huge poster but I do read alot and get so much information. I normally go to the VSG or Lightweight forums, but since I am 55, thought I would check this one out. I am 3 weeks out today and have lost 28 lbs since the pre op diet. I look forward to meeting everyone on here!
